Clif, maybe I´m mistaking. But QY700 uses the XG sounds for pattern sound and can only (in a relatively easy way) use an other XG soundsource for the patterns.

Maybe the XV3080 has XG soundtable? In that case it should work!

If you connect QY700 to a non XG soundsource, it will work partly, but with some strange results (because the non XG source will not understand what QY "says"). With some tweaking though, it is possible to gain good results from any good sounding source. The problem is how to save your tweaks, so you don´t have to do it all over again everytime you change a style.
