Sure Eddie (and Zuki) rest assured I'm NOT denigrating Russ's talents (I probably couldn't hold a candle to his playing - though we probably actually DO share some songs in our setlists) what I'm getting at in a (hopefully) polite and genuinely curious way is WHY Russ felt he needed to comment at all in this thread (for example) as to what he would do with the gig in the first place. It's obviously not his bag as he said (and I'm fine with that - really) it's just I guess I don't see why he needs to share that attitude in a thread that never called for it.
I was also surprised he went on (when asked, to be fair) about how he not only didn't like the music/dance but even the people.
Perhaps in the States it's a different scene, but in Australia for example, Linedancing is practiced primarily by older people (mainly ladies) who have, in many cases, lost their Husbands/Significant other, and now have no regular partner to dance with, and Linedancing is often one of their only outlets for exercise and public contact.
I often feel for them, having lost probably the love of their lives, and linedancing puts a smile on their face and a song in their heart (if you don't mind the Cliché) so we happily play for them, and moreover we play whatever they want, including specialised Linedancing songs we never would normally play.
Russ's post, to me, portrays him as a bit of a "Grinch who stole Christmas" figure - which I actually DON'T think he is

- so I wanted to know his real feelings on the matter, apart from his matter-of fact post.
Maybe I'm going too "deep" for this thread...lol
Anyway, again - Peace!
