I use a combination of a couple of strips of Velcro plastic (the hook part) on the underside of the pedal for carpet, and a piece of that rubber shelf liner stuff you get at kitchen stores for wood and hard flooring. Works like a charm.

It's unsurprising that someone that doesn't even use a sustain pedal at all (let alone two or three ) might find it difficult to work a multi-pedal unit. Personally, a LOT of people have no problem whatsoever with these things. I couldn't even gig without mine...
