Probably the most interesting discussion tangential to this thread would be WHY musicians develop different skills in response to different audience expectations in different parts of the world...

In other words, what is it that makes say a Dutch audience different to an American one, or a British one, or a Russian one... What are the kinds of styles and songs they tend to want to hear, what are the kinds of gigs that the majority tend to play, what is the level of audience participation and expectation?

Before we all start simply comparing what we play, perhaps we need to look at WHY we play it...
