That all depends upon the midi file and the keyboard. Many keyboards do not have the ability to set markers and restart a midi file.

For the most part, I do not use midi files at all. The constraints of a midi file are such that I find style files offer a much greater advantage to the performer, allowing him or her to shorten, extend of modify any song they happen to be working with. Yes, you can make custom midi files, but you can also make custom style files as well.
