Most of yesterday was spent at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center's ER with Carol. There were just over 20 ppl in the waiting room, and all but two, myself and another old guy, had a smart phone in their hand. They ignored everything that was going on around them and their thumbs were rapidly pounding and scrolling their touch screens. I consider this an addiction at the very least.
Sadly, I see this same activity in my grandson and my step grand daughters. They would be in a state of panic if the battery died, or God forbid, they leave their phones at home. Thankfully, my daughter took my grandson's smart phone away from him and now he spends most of his tie outdoors playing baseball, football and other games with the other kids in his neighborhood that are not I-phone addicted.
A few weeks ago, Carol and I went to a nearby restaurant to have dinner. Sitting next to us was a young couple in their early 20s. The girl was drop-dead gorgeous, the young man was clean shaven and, according to Carol, quite handsome. They were both glued to their I-phones. When I was young, and dating Carol, the very last thing I would have been looking at was the screen of a smart phone. Hell, they may even have been texting to each other because that was the only way they knew how to communicate.
Just My Opinion,
Gary (the old dude)
