I'm only getting around to answering you now.
The update doesn't work the way you described it!

Current operating software version 1.3 for sx-KN6500/6000/5000
Version 1.3 is not suitable for sx-KN6000, not even with sy-EW65NX upgrade !!! ---
This update is the latest version of the operating system, which optimizes the internal workings of the instrument.

Current operating software
1. Click on these files and save them to any location on your PC hard drive.
2. If you now double-click on these files on your PC, they will automatically unpack on diskette.
So have two formatted HD floppy disks ready and
Label them with "Diskette 1" or "Diskette 2"

Important note for installation in the KN6500:
Both diskettes contain 4 files each. Please proceed as follows to install in the KN6500:
Installation of the update
Turn off the keyboard.
Insert disk 1.
Press PANEL MEMORY buttons 1-2-3-4 simultaneously and
switch on the keyboard meanwhile.
Release the keys as soon as text appears on the display.
After a while the keyboard will ask for DISK 2/2.
Change the floppy disks.
After a short time the display reports: COMPLETED, TURN ON AGAIN.
Turn off the keyboard and remove the disk.
Initialize the keyboard at power-on by simultaneously holding down the [LATIN]-[WORLD]-[CUSTOM] rhythm keys while turning on the keyboard.
