When you see something like this it makes those Steve Vai stories quite believable. I guess the kid in this video will be quite capable of touring by the age of 14. Damnit the kid is only 8 .... how long can he have been playing for?

I never saw Zappa and Vai play together unfortunately though I have seen them both live separately. I saw Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention a couple of times back in the 70s with Jean Luc Ponty ( violin ), George Duke ( keyboards ), Ian & Ruth Underwood ( sax/xylophone ) and Ansley Dunbar ( drums ). Amazing stuff. Oh and of course Frank Zappa conducted the band and played lots of "in-yer-face" guitar. I saw Steve Vai about 10 years ago at Ventura Theater. I have seen a quite a few good guitar players at that local venue up the road from my home in Ventura including Larry Carlton, Joe Satriani and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. There always so much more to learn lol. And I'm getting so old you'd think I should have it all down by now. Then young kids really make me open my eyes and I go back to practicing. By the time I die I should be a pretty good player by then
