Diki I prefer to use the User program with a SMF linked..rather than a play list..I never lock myself into a playlists..Never can tell what direction I want to go..during a performance..The crowds dictate where I am going..Set lists were for bands that needed to be ready for the next tune..Today we are ready at any single moment..

Diki heres a few answers....:

"In theory it could do this, but it would mean entering some SysEx into the SMF, then use that in the juke box as a regular SMF.

To do it you would need to enter the code to change the GM input to "Keyboard", enter the SysEx to change the regis number, then SysEx to change the input back from "Keyboard" to GM. These are all listed in the technical tables. Probably need to enter these before the GM reset message.

I haven't tried this and don't have the technical tables to hand and so can't offer a "blow by blow" method. The Roland should be able to do this too.

Good luck

Barry Crane"

(I WANT to be wrong, here, but I can't find anything in the manual!)

Hi Dennis,
I don't really use midifiles to any extent, but for the odd one that I have modified, I've used a pc sequencer.

I have my sd midied to my laptop using an edirol usb/midi adapter, so that I can hear any changes I make as I go. Then I just save midifile to floppy disk & use "copy" to transfer the file into the sd1.

The only time I used the Ketron serial cable file transfer system , was to do a complete backupup of all the sd files to my pc. Then I'll just redo again if I make any majar changes to my files. I don't use it as a midi interface between laptop & sd.

I also had to buy a usb to serial adapter as neither of my pc's have a serial port.
As far as I'm aware the required Ketron cable is only available in serial to pc?? unless they've brought out a new one.

I'm a bit rusty on some of the sd functions as I've been concentrating on my psr recently.
I'd been having some issues with EMC ( with Plus Package) software & using it for event list editing of styles. Finally got some of the issues sorted out, so will go back to spending a bit more time on the sd again.

It is a very different type of operating to what I'd been used to also ( having been used to technics, yamaha & the earlier korg & roland systems) but once you work your way thru it, it has some great functions.

If I can be of any help ( could be pretty limited though , haahaa) , let me know. I'm going to have to brush up on the manual again also as I've forgotten so much of what I'd learnt how to do, way back.
best wishes

hi rikki,
thanks for comments...i have actually stumbled across a program i had forgotten about, when i tried it unsuccessfully with the midjay i owned (only had it for about 2 weeks!!) the prgram is called SD1 Mastering studio, and i downloaded the demo and i have got to say it is a great program...(provided you use midi files, its not good for anything else)...it edits everything you need to tweak midis and saves it all in the track header as ketron sysex data...brilliant, and all run from a gui that makes an a doddle to use...dont know if you would be interested but here is the link http://www.soundcompany.net/sd1/mastering_studio/
cheers
dennis
PS thanks for offering to help out with the SD im sure i will have some questions..it is SO different to anything else, but im getting the hang of it, slowly...just got to realise its not yamaha/roland op systems which are quite simple....cya

Hi Dennis,
i did download the demo quite a while back.
Do you know if you can still actually buy the program though?
I can't remember why I didn't go ahead with it at the time, either because I couldn't get onto the supplier, or maybe I just decided I'd be doubling up with the sequencers I already owned.

If you do get it, luv to know what you think of it.

best wishes
Rikki

p. what operating system does your sd have 4b or 4c??
Haven't gotten round to upgrading mine from 4b to 4c as yet.
