Here's a picture of my new stand: K&M (Baby) Spider Pro. It's supposed to be an improvement over the Ultimate Apex/Deltex stand. The big advantage is that it's very light compared to the Ultimate (almost half of the weight) and much smaller too. This is definitely the stand with the smaller footprint in the trunk of my car, and I own them all. I use my Tyros alone in many occasions and for that I found out that I didn't need the big and heavy two tier Ultimate. This Spider does also look great, don't you think? Only disadvantage I found: slight transversal (relative to the stand axis) wobble - nothing special, and above all, not dangerous, but inexistant in the Ultimate. In the picture I'm sitting, but it works great as well, when I stand. Adequate for one keyboard. If you want to use two keyboards I recommend the non-baby model (although you can mount a second tier on this one). The "Pro" model includes an accessorie for a mic boom (can be purchased separately) and extra-long arms. Detailed info here: http://www.spiderpro.de/spiderpro/english/index.html

In the picture you can also see the tiny LUCAS XT I'm reviewing in another post. The satellites are tilted and mounted in mic stands!

How much does it weigh compared to the APEX and also how much does it cost? Can the TYROS sit sturdy on the lower shelf and can the upper shelf support a harmonizer module?

I was wondering if the top tier can be adjustable to close and open wider?

Hi Donny and firehead.

Let me see if I can answer all the questions. Weight: 8 Kg (baby pro, 1 tier) against around 14 Kg (Apex 48BP Plus, two tiers, extra-log arms, mic boom). Load capacity: 35 Kg per tier. Price [Baby Pro, 1 tier]: Euro 159 (varies according to model). I'm sure an harmonizer can be placed in the upper tier with no problems. No, Donny, the tiers cannot close or open wider (due to the design constraints). The arms have a minimum length, that can be extended to accomodate bigger keyboards (Pro model) but the angle between the arms cannot be changed.

Where can it be found? K&M is a german brand (www.k-m.de) so you will easily find it in the main german online stores. A few examples: http://www.thomann.de/ , http://www.musik-produktiv.de/ ... No idea whether it can purchased in the USA.
