Between the Korg and and the Ketron. I personally would take the Korg. It has a better screen (color and touch), The controls on the Korg seem more logical to me. The pitchbend and modulation are to your left on the Korg rather than up and to your left on the Ketron. Sounds are subjective with both models.

As far as the Kurzweil and the Triton. That's a good toss up there. In the sound department as far as acoustic instruments are concerned I think the Kurzweil has the edge there. You also have to consider the poly issue with the Kurzweil too. I think they say it's (true) 48 poly (whatever that means), and the Korg has I think 128 (pretty sure that's what it is or close). Both of those models have their good and weak points. You may also want to consider the Yamaha Motif series and the new Roland Fantom series. Those are both great synths too.

I would check out the legal standing of Kurzweil before thinking of doing a purchace from them, I heard from a friend that works in the music biz, that even the dealer could not get a power adaptor from them because they could not answer the phones, and the other, is because they use a very stange voltage, so if it breaks, you can NOT get one right of way, no to many dealers stock this item, so becareful.
As far concern the arraenger, I would recomend to do a search of what type of styles are you going to use, and I would take it from there....

Korg Triton Extreme hands down winner over the Kurz. Kurzweil just can't compete. I have the TE76 and it's awesome.

I still say Kurzweil has better acoustic sounds. Korg hasn't until recently put a decent stock piano on their Triton line. I remember when the first Triton was released all the complaints about the old dated Korg piano. My only issue with the Kurzweil is poly and what they mean by (true) 48 note poly. The Korg is nice too, but everyone has different needs. I've used the touch screen set up in live play from Korg (The old Trinity series), and what a nightmare to use in a live situation. You had to be really careful because you could easily select the wrong thing.

Again we all have our different taste. We can all give advice until we're blue in the face, but it falls down to the buyer to find and try these boards for themselves.

Well if you've had the Triton Le, and Studio, I'm not too sure what you'd think of the Extreme. Actually what are you're thoughts on the Le? What did you like and dislike about that synth (I know one major downfall off the top is only (one) DSP).

If you're familiar with how Korgs work than you'll have no problem operating the Extreme. The only thing is would you consider the Extreme better than the Studio. Maybe the Kurzweil would suit you better.

What are your music styles? Are you more into the acoustic sounds of synth sounds? For you I think it will work out great since you're looking for both a synth and an arranger. I know I share the same opinion here with many others that arrangers over the years have typically held the title in terms of acoustic instruments (or the bread and butter sounds), but lacked the sonic quality of a synth for those crazy/cool sounds.

Have you considered a PSR-3000 or a Yamaha Tyros? The PSR-3000 sounds awsome. Great acoustic instruments. The Tyros is also a great arranger too.

...wellll....

TR EX is much different then Studio in sound quality because there are sounds from (allmost) all Korg's expansion boards... but Kurzweil has old samples which are still one of the best I heard and there can be made great emulations of some older synths... I had k2661 for a few days and play two giggs with it, I just had to give it back to shop because it was USED synth which I notice few days after I purchase it. Now I'm waiting for new one to come.In the shop they give me a choise to choose some other synth so.... I don't know... maybe I'll take a new K2661 because when I compare it's sounds (accoustic & synths) with Rolands X6 sounds,Roland sounds like a toy!

I was thinking of buying PSR3000 but there is no aftertouch and keys are very toyish - sounds are great.

Ketron sounds, especially drums, mandolines, pianos, accordions are one of the best (synth multisamples) I' ve heard...

Oh,yes, 48 real poly on Kurzweil means that as manny(I think 4 or 8) sounds you put in the program, mono or stereo it will be 48 tones. There is Kurzweil's CD -ROM called Clasic synth colection which has emulations and samples of some older analog synths and some classics like D50, 01w, T3,JD990,DX7...Kurzweil ROM multisamples without effects sounds much bether then Korg does.

What do you hope to do with the arranger? What is important to you on the arranger onboard styles, sounds features? If you are getting a synth, a PSR 3000 should be o k. But all depends what you are going to do with both the synth and arranger.

...I would like to have that "real bend" sound when I'm performing solo through the week and good sounding keyboards on the weekend giggs with a bend... PSR 3000 is great keyboard... I've heard all demos that I could find on the net... but it seems to me that Ketron has much bether drum sounds... and key feel.

Hi sLOWER
After OS 2.50 version, Korg PA1X became the best PA in the world. Believe me.

Sure there is! (It is called "Mandolin Key Off") Isn't it a keyboard made in Italy, after all?

Best,

Before I read your post, I read your bio to see how you are lucky enough to afford (2) pro keyboards - lucky you
