The quickest and easiest way is using Power Tracks and your PC. However, this can also be done on the keyboard as well using the onboard Song Creator software and the mixing console. Just load the song, then press Digital Recording/Song Creator, then tab to Channel and press the Mixing Console button repeatedly until you see the first 8 midi channels displayed at the bottom of the screen. This reveals the volume sliders, panpots and individual instruments. Each row can be accessed by pressing the button to the right or left of the row. Volume changes and panpot chantes are made using the individual number buttons at the bottom of the display. If you wish to change an instrument, say the type of lead, which if frequently on midi channel 4, press the "H" button (voice) then press the top of the #4 button and page of instruments containing that voice will open. After making any volume or voice changes, exit to the channel page, press Execute, then press save and give the file a new name so you do not overwrite the orriginal. That's all there is to it, Gary ------------------ Travlin' Easy

Glad I could help Zuki. And, ditto for the 3000 for live performances. Fran's just jealous because he sold his and no one will lend him one to play. Plus, his hernia from lugging the G-1000 is giving him a fit. Rumor has is that he's getting a small fork-lift for his birthday. Cheers, Gary ------------------ Travlin' Easy

Mike, Unfortunately, even as a collective group we have little or no impact upon the design characteristics and features of new keyboards. And, while there were lots of neat features that were eliminated, there were a host of new features on all brands of the newer arranger keyboards that have really proved beneficial. IDC (Internet Direct Connection), however, is still in its infancy and currently the jury is still out when it comes to whether or not this feature will provide performers with any advantages. A good workaround for the Talk button is to set this feature into a registration. It's easy to do and it can be combined with other functions as well. The same is true with various foot-pedal function. A single foot pedal becomes a multi-function foot pedal with the use of registrations. Lots of neat, new things, but like many of us I sure miss some of the old ones. Cheers, Gary ------------------ Travlin' Easy

Thanks, worked like a charm. Is there any way to link my R1 I use as my played solo instrument? You have a couple options here. First, you can create a custom user voice and save it in the User Voice area. I've done this with the grand piano, posted the .vce file and there are lots of performers using it. If you have the OTS Link turned off, you can then just press the user voice button and if the grand piano is the first voice on the page it will be instantly selected. You can do this with other voices as well, such as the sweet tenor sax voice I modified, and the guitar voices I posted on the PSR Tutorial site. and...there are (2) other things: 1. Is it possible to save OTS LINK to a saved style? It appears that cannot be saved. You can save an OTS link to any third-party style, but you can only save a single voice to an onboard style. The workaround here is to use the keyboard's onboard Style Creator program, change the OTS settings, then save the onboard style as a third party style by providing it with a new name. I frequently use an approriate song title when doing this, which tells me exactly what that style is going to sound like. For example, the MORswing style in the PSR-3000 is great for Can't Smile Without You. I changed the intro, changed the OTS settings to ones that I liked better, then save the file as Can't Smile. It works for me. 2. When I play piano on the upper part with a style, is there a way to save -1 octave, etc. Yes, this can be saved in the registration. Or, the other option is save the lower octave piano in a custom voice, one with all the other effects that make it sound great. Hope this helps, Gary ------------------ Travlin' Easy

They're looking a lot better, the burn pain has pretty much gone, and I have a meeting with the doctor on Tuesday to talk about resuming treatments. I'm still wearing the white glove on one hand, and still get the questions about whether or not I'm trying to imitate Michael Jackson. I got everyones attention today when I kicked off with a verion of Bill Jean. Thanks for asking, Gary ------------------ Travlin' Easy

Zuki,
You have to change the Octave setting at the MIXING CONSOLE, not at the UPPER OCTAVE - +.
Press MIXING CONSOLE, Tab over to TUNING, and make sure the screen shows the settings for LEFT R1 and R2 by repeatedly pressing MIXING CONSOLE button.
Press button "I" on the right side of screen, and then change the Octave of R1.
Store in your OTS.
I hope this helps you.
Ian
