Does the L1 model ll have all the presets, similar to the original?

It has more, IF you buy the T1 mixer thingee for $500 ! The stand has NO presets and only ONE input and ONE volume knob. They really push for the controller. Sounds like a good package if you can afford it !

My band has started using 2 Bose L1 II systems to replace our conventional PA system. It really is an amazing system and works even for a classic rock band that does play at a reasonable volume level. We mainly run vocals and Roland electronic VDrum kit through the PA but we found we could even mix in a little of the guitars to get a nice wide sound field. Even having the 2 columns out front of the band and using conventional monitor speakers we still notice the difference in the sound on stage.


The only thing we had to add to the system was to use our existing large JBL subwoofer. But you gotta realise I do play in a gritty classic rock band which is certainly well above lounge music volume levels. And the electronic kick drum does require some serious speakers to pump up an electric guitar band in a bar.

Nigel wouldnt 3 or 4 matching Bose Subs take care of your needs on stage vs the JBL?

I'm with Nigel on this one ... Loud electronic drums need top push alot of air and the smaller speakers in teh Bose just won't cut it at higher levels. I have MORE than enough bass for almost anything I okay, but I have no live drums or live gtrs etc.

If the Drummer had his own L1 with at least 2 bass modules, maybe that would do, but I think the larger, conventional sub is the right way to go in this scenario.

Nigel - why don't you put the towers BEHIND you and forget the monitors? They work so well when used as directed !

The Bose subs were clipping when pushed with the V-Drums. I don't think adding a couple more would really change that. And we already had the big JBL sub and that has no problem.

The first night we used the Bose system the singer was pretty jazzed about using them behind us on stage. It seemed like it would work well except having vocals at a level needed to get above a live rock band added to our onstage mix made it much harder than normal to hear the other instruments. Of all people to complain about the extra volume of the vocals onstage the drummer was adamant that we use the Bose towers in front of the stage and continue to use conventional monitor speakers.

One thing we did try was to mix in a little of all the instruments which the L1 handled wonderfully, but we still decided to move the towers out in front. But I was very impressed how easily the system handled vocals, drums plus electric guitars and some keyboard and still sounded great. Maybe in the future we will experiment with that again though.


But in a non-rock lineup I think the Bose towers would work great as monitors as well. Now we aren't at all loud compared to most rock bands but even still when we were using the towers as monitors we did tend to have a few feedback problems.

Everyone in the band has only had good things to say about the system. And people who have seen the band on previous occasions are enjoying the comfortable clarity that the Bose delivers.

My band uses 4 bose double bass systems, what we do is have all the subs next to and ontop of each other, which creates acoustic coupling, which inter gives you an immpressive amount of impact controlled musical bass.

Why? My understanding is that the T1 provides EQ, FX, and additional inputs. Except for the additional inputs, those of us doing a one man band with an AK already have that... and $500 is a bit much for additional inputs.
