Wow ... I honestly had no idea that there were people on this forum with so many boards!!

QUESTION: From a sound library perspective, if you could only keep ONE of your boards, which would it be?

WOW !!! How can anyone look at the above lists and not be impressed.
The list I now present to you may not be so expensive or extensive, but has nurtured
my love of music and nourished my needs for artistic expression.
1. Comb and Toilet paper Kazoo
2. Arthur Godfrey Uke (Plastic body, but
genuine cotton woven strings)
3. Little Abner Drum Set (Super model with
genuine cardboard drum head).
4. Heifitz model Plastic Strad. This came
with official Heifitz autograph (a
prized keepsake).
5. Lawrence Welk 12 note Accordian (it
only played Polkas).
6. "Soupy Sales" Jews Harp (the 8 reed
model in 100 % Tin). Brought tears to
my Rabbis eyes.
7. Plastic Slide Flute with metal
slide.
8. Very large assortment of plastic and
metal Whistles, hand painted with
pictures of Donald Duck, Goofy and
most importantly Little Orphan Annie.
You can't imagine how much Ovaltine I
had to drink to save up enough Box
tops to purchase these items.
Now I do own a Ketron SD1+, but it
can't hold a candle to the sounds that
come from a double thick Dove toilet
tissue stretched over a 6" plastic
Ace brand comb.
I consider myself blessed to have
owned all of the above;
Bruce

Damn those are some impressive lists David and Fran!

Gee I don't remember everything I've had but here's a short list.

-Yamaha DX-7 (was and still in my opinion the best FM synth ever made)
-Korg M1
-Korg Trinity
-Roland XP-60
-Yamaha EX-7
-Yamaha DJX (original blue baby)
-Yamaha PSR-540
-Yamaha PSR-550
-Casio MZ-2000
-Casio WK-3500

Man I couldn't imagine having the number of boards over the years as others have here. Especially Fran and David. David where do you keep the 20 or so boards you currently own from that list? If I had just half of the boards you own I can only imagine what my wife would say

Dave, my complete list probably is similar to yours , if I go back another 15 years..I pretty much have had every Roland product, some Kurz,a lot more Korg and Yamaha,, Ensoniq, Solton and I can't forget the Crumar, Arp, Moog,Siel products...I am sure there are hundreds, and if I count the effects, sequencers, drum machines, recorders etc....My memory can't recall all my stuff..

Some items [modules] I forgot to mention since 98...Roland SC88,SC155,SC55 and SC7..

Glenn. if I could only keep 3 of what I had[knowing what I know now]...It surly would be two of my current keyboards...The Roland G1000 and the Roland DisCover5[I am going to post more comments on the DisCover5 later]..If I need to include another, it would be a Roland VA-7 version2...a fourth would be a Roland VR760..

The above 4 keyboards could handle anything I would need, and do it the best for me..Each one is a great board..Quality abounds...

I will only be keeping two and selling the rest by or before summer. I am out of room and now that we don't lay down midi tracks and build songs one track at a time, they are surplus.
I will keep the Tyros 2 and the Technics KN7000.

Yeah, I'm lucky that my wife is very cool about that. Most of the instruments are in my studio which is pretty much the entire basement of our house. However, a B3 and Leslie 145 have found their way into our dining room. I also have an antique pump organ that I restored years ago that greets visitors in the foyer, a Boston baby grand in the living room and a home style digital ensemble piano in the family room.

In fact the only rooms that don't have at least one keyboard are the bathrooms, kitchen and master bedroom. Although (and don't tell my wife) I was looking for something in the dresser of our bedroom and came across a Casio SK1, the little key mono sampling keyboard from years ago. Not sure why it ended up in there, but kind of funny.

Dave

I still have a Panaramic 96 tube amp made by Magnatone or Estey for Titano/Pancordion - still works fine - along with the old Symphony Grand. Farfisa was my first board with an old Wurlitzer played through the Leslie piece of furniture. I had a Cordovox cut apart and mounted into a cabinet with a little Casio on top though various Leslies and an Ampeg Quad Four. Ouch, My back aches thinking about it. Remember? there were plenty of steps and no wheelchair access to a lot of those venues.

I've listed my keyboards several times before, but they include:
All Technics models from KN800 to KN5000.
Most all Yamaha models from PSR70 through Tyros. Probably 10 or so.
ONE Roland, G800.
Ketron X1 and SD1.
Various organs in the old days, B3, Loweries, Yamahas.
TWO Casio SK1s!! Still have 'em. One of them says Radio Shack, though.
One Casio WK3000.
Korg BX1 or something like that. It sounded like a B3.
Wurlitzer EP, Rhodes EP
Yamaha DX7, V50, various modules.
Several drum machines.
More PA systems than Musician's Friend.
Enough mics for the Mormon Tallywacker Choir.
One very understanding wife.
Two ex-wives who weren't that understanding.

My memory may not be very good at this...

Korg Poly 800
Yamaha DX
Roland Alpha Juno
Yamaha Clavinova
Peavey DPM V3
Acoustic Upright Grand Piano
Fatar Studio 90
Yamaha Sound Canvas
Roland PMA-5
Yamaha PSR 750
Technics P30
Yamaha PSR 9000
Casio Previa
Yamaha Tyros 2

I believe that I have these in chronological order. Again I think thats it for keyboard stuff.

I thought it was interesting, remembering how our equipment evolved into what we use today. Much more fun than watching people argue.
Apparently several other folks thought so also.
Merry Christmas!

OK gang it really is time to start a MIA group (Musical Instruments Anonymous.) I need the most help of all because I can’t play for a hill of beans but still enjoy playing.

Best post so far has to go to brmoore, Bruce that was over the top LMAO

One gets the Feeling that Fran is a Roland fan and our good friend Dave M has one of everything.

Just a note to ianmcnll that Yamaha D-85 three manual Electone organ with two tone cabinets wasn’t a B3 but sure could make some great music in the right hands. We had hooked up a Leslies to one of the Yamahas of that era and what a night & day difference that brought out.

keysvocalssax the purpose FUN !!!1

Wrinkles, my prayers are with you.

Enough comments.

Have owned :Organs in no particular order

Over the years my studio setup has changed but here's a list of the gear I've had, and currently have. I know I'm forgetting a bunch but my memory isn't as good as it once was. If there ever was an MIA (Musical Instruments Anonymous) group, I'm sure I'd need to join! The frightening part is that this list doesn't include any of my studio or outboard gear.

Yamaha QY-700

Of all these keyboards, modules, drum machines, and synthesizers the Akai, Moog, Oberheim, Roland, Sequential, and Fairlights are my favorites. My favorite arranger is my Wersi Abacus Duo Pro followed by the Mediastation X-76. Yamaha's have been my least favorite overall with the exception of the CS-01 which I quite liked for its size and analog sound achieved from such a tiny keyboard.

Jerry,

My friends not a Synthzone member but if he was, I'd be the Deputy as he has me beat!

I've pared my setup down, so much of what I listed above I've sold or traded. If I could only keep a handful of the gear I'd keep the Fairlights, Wersi Abacus, Mediastaton X-76, Korg Oasys, Sequential VS's & Studio 440, Moog Memorymoog, and OB-Xa.

I'm a major gear whore in recovery. I'm not sure if I can be cured of the disease though.
