No midi file running. One keyboard (SD1) and 2 mics going into a Mackie mixer then into one Barbetta (powered) speaker.

I think I know what happened. This was the first time I had used the mixer, but I had not set it properly (zero the console, set the levels, etc) and was running too hot of a signal. I've been told that most amps have a built in protection circut to eliminate clipping and protect the speaker. I'll be using the same system tomorrow on the job, same way, but with properly setting the mixer. We'll see what happens.

A spare powered speaker will be close by and ready to go.

yep that's so glenn, the joys of new technology, in the old days you prob would've popped a cone..good luck (and good thinking with the spare amp )
