The slot that the music rest goes in has cracked. I have tried to glue it with a heavy duty plastic epoxy, but it is not holding well. It is bending when I put a music book on the rest.

I once saw a post about an alternative music rest that someone built that was made to hold heavy music books.

Can someone think of any solution.

Hi Beakybird, I first thought you meant the music rest. Mine broke and I glued it with super glue and it has never broken again. But you mean the slot. If all else fails, you could use a music stand. That's what I use now, as it's more heavy duty anyway. When at home, I am not banging around. When gigging, I kind of bang around on the keyboard, making it shake. Which also means I need a better keyboard stand. :-)

The problem is that the music stand was never intended to hold those monster books--just individual sheets. Fortunately, one of the PSR Tutorial members figgured a way to midify the stand so it will hold a heavy book and then some. You'll find the details by going to the PSR Tutorial then clicking on Projects and finally the Music Rack. Lots of support and not a chance of cracking the slot again.

Additionally, reglue the board with Crazy Glue--it's good stuff.

Larry I built the reinforced stand as outlined at the PSR tutorial. That reinforced piece works very well. I sold the 3000 recently but I may have some pictures of it somewhere. I will e-mail them to you once I find them.

Has anyone thought of memorizing your songs?

Zuki, that is one Achilles heel..how about a couple more...buttons, key contacts, power supply..headphone jack...to name a few..

Hard to believe the PSR's plastic case would crack at a high stressed area like the music rack base..[engineering]..

Donny, it is hard for someone that has used music scores for so long to so called "Memorize" tunes..They are use to reading melodies as well as all the chord changes.....Most people that "memorize " tunes ..2..5.. their way thru a song and depend on vocal strength to cover up the changes,, and throw in a few licks...Does it work ..of course, and it makes performing easier.....
