My first inclination is that it would not hurt the mother board, but I'm not sure. Are you sure the cables are good? Are you should the floppy (s) are good?
Depending on which OS you have, you may have to "help" the computer find the new floppy drive.

Google has taken it over, however the page that you get at www.deja.com shows the options you need.

I figure it out finally.

-The data cable was probably backward or probably did not sit correctly (shifted by one pin)but it did not hurt the mother board nor the floppy.
-Also, it would not boot off the floppy because I had to create a new startup disk specially for the new system that I recently changed the motherboard.

I went to the Google page but deja.com is not one on the options???

If you go to deja.com, you will get to the Google page. On it will be displayed a list of Usenet discussion forums. Go to the appropriate group, in this case "comp."
Or you can just type what you are looking for in the search bar to search all groups.
