I'm fairly computer-literate, but I have a question that most likely has a simple answer.
When I open a new window from a link in Internet Explorer, the new window is not maximized. It is small and I have to manually enlarge it to full size. I have searched and searched to find the settings that automatically open the new window to full size, but can't find it.
Anyone?? Anyone??

Don.....did you try stretching the window befoe closing it....so that when reopening it will memorize the size setting again upon reopening?

Yes I always leave it maximized when closing.

All my new windows open in the reduced sized screen. I thought that was normal.

I've been trying to figgure this one out for two years. When I first got the computer, before the hard drive crashed, all the pages opened full size. Now I'm experiencing the same problems as well. One day I'll figgure this one out.

O.K. I think I've got it. At least for Windows ME.
Close all windows except the minimized one.
Right-click on an empty portion of the task bar.
Select "tile windows horizontally".
If the window is not maximized, maximize it.
Hold down Shift and close it.
That should do it.
Also do this.
Right click on the IE icon on the taskbar.
Select Properties.
Where it says Run, be sure Maximized is selected.

I can't imagine you guys were having that problem too. It was about to drive me nuts. I have 98SE.

I did what you said up to hold the shift key down and closed from the menu window and when I clicked it back on it was full screen.

Now I'm gonna shut down and see what happens on a re-boot.

Now you need to tell us where you learned this?

Don, I just rebooted and I've gat a full screen.

I'd like to say I figured it out myself, but I went to deja.com and searched for the answer. It came right up, along with several other solutions.
Deja.com is a wonderuful resource for most computer-related (and others) problems.

I reversed the data cable to the floppy drive and now I could not get it to work (the floppy only, the others worked ok). I even swapped with another floppy still no go. Did I ruin the mother board ?

My first inclination is that it would not hurt the mother board, but I'm not sure. Are you sure the cables are good? Are you should the floppy (s) are good?
Depending on which OS you have, you may have to "help" the computer find the new floppy drive.

I figure it out finally.

-The data cable was probably backward or probably did not sit correctly (shifted by one pin)but it did not hurt the mother board nor the floppy.
-Also, it would not boot off the floppy because I had to create a new startup disk specially for the new system that I recently changed the motherboard.

I went to the Google page but deja.com is not one on the options???

If you go to deja.com, you will get to the Google page. On it will be displayed a list of Usenet discussion forums. Go to the appropriate group, in this case "comp."
Or you can just type what you are looking for in the search bar to search all groups.
