This is odd. I have a Yamaha sustain pedal that I have been using with my Roland RS-70--older cheapo sustain pedal too. However, my Roland lets me go into a function to reverse polarity to use this pedal. Well all works fine.

So when using this Yamaha pedal on a Yamaha keyboard (my new NP-30), I noticed on start the polarity is reversed. So I follow the instructions in the manual to reverse polarity, but this pedal will not respond to that using the NP-30. Hmmmmm odd isn't it?

I'm gonna just go ahead and order a Yamaha FC5. Can get one now for less than $13.00+ shipping....

If this is a cheapo on/of switch pedal, my understanding is that it plays no part in the reversal of polarity. It's the keyboard that has to reverse it's response to the switch opening & closing???

That's what I thought. Oddly enough I did get it working, but I wonder if the weak batteries were the problem.

Perhaps you turned the instrument on whilst stepping on the pedal?

Sometimes that causes a reverse in polarity with some keyboards.
