The local finally got a replacement for my Audio Technica MB1000 that had the collapsed diaphragm.

They sent me an Audio Technica MB 3k. It sounds much better than my old MB1000, but I have the "S" and "popping "P" sound with it too, but not a prevalent as the other two Mics I mentioned a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not trying to criticize any Mic. All I'm saying is if you have the "P" and "S" sound problem like me, by all means try the Shure SM58. It makes those annoying sounds disappear.

I think the MB1000 was bad when I bought it 2 years ago and with trying to learn to be a "Onemanband" and arguing with Dave all the time I was so busy and too green to even know it.

What do I know? I'm a bricklayer, ex-Pool hustler and a Sax man.

Go the music store and pick up a wind screen and that should solve your "P" and "S" problems.

I also used an SM-58 for a while and yes, it's a good mic, but I always felt it lacked the high end response. It has a great mid range and low end response, and that may be why it does not amplify the "P" and "S" sounds as much as the Sennheiser E-855.

I HAVE to tell you about some new mics I got.
Samson Rll--they are 3 for $69., if I remember correctly.
Excellent Hyper Cardiod response, 55-18000.
On-off swith, high sensitivity. Don't know how they can build them for that. Crisp, warm and clear.

I've been embarrased to mention the Samson's because of their LOOOOOWWW price, but now that you opened the closet, I'll come out.

I have these and think thay are very competative to the SM58a. I initially started using them for rehearsals, but now use it live.

Not a bad little mic for my voice.

Tonight I used the Shure Beta 58a Mic on stage & I really enjoyed it. Great Gain and Clarity, although I had to change EQ's compared to my Senn E855 settings with a bit more mid's & less low end for my voice to get it to my liking. Oherwise its a Keeper for me.
