Are there styles available in 5/4?
I believe I use to play "Take Five" on the organ. The rythm was played with the left hand and bass pedals.

Graham,
I suggest that you play along with a 5/4 song (like Take Five) and practice until you get the feeling. Keep in mind, however, that to play the piano part of Take Five you will need both hands playing a sort of counterpoint (to give that syncopated effect). So, if you are planning to play the melody with the right hand on your PSR 3000 you will have to rely on a good style, with a piano track faithful to the original.
However, as I said, there is nothing that can substitute playing along with the original song.
Have fun!

.
I found that practicing hemiola helped me a lot with 5/4, 7/8 and jazz triplets. This is simply three against two. Try 2/4 in your left hand and 3/4 in the right, just tapping on the table. Then switch hands.

Being able to do this in a natural relaxed manner opens the door to all sorts of polyrhythms.

Starkeeper,

Gig Disk #6 can be found at Gig Disk where I posted a style called Take Five. I believe this is what you are looking for.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I will persevere with this one. The 3K has a good 5/4 style.
I find it easier to cycle 25 miles than trying to play a 5/4...Ha!!!!

Hi

The 5/4 rythm is a very nice rythm to play. Try it in front of a dancing audience and see what's happen. It's very funny. *SS*

Have fun

Graham...
If I can also offer a suggestion.
Give a listen to Sting's "I Hung My Head"
