I checked the Tyros spec sheet and it states that it has 3.3 MB of onboard USER (disk) memory.

Is this USER memory space allocated for total USER: Registrations, Styles, Songs, & Sounds, as well as MusicFinder data? I assume that the Tyros OS is stored elsewhere, right?

I realize that you can increase onboard memory storage by adding an optional hard drive, but it would have been nicer if Yamaha could've included something more like 10 MB. Would that have costed much more for them to do this? Oh well. I'm sure most of us will be needing to purchase a hard drive for Tyros. Does the Tyros accept an 'off the shelf' HD? How much does a hard drive which will work on the Tyros cost? Thanks.

HI: Scott
They say that the Tyros will except just about
any hard drive for a lap top, not as fussy as
the 9000 or the pro.
So you should be able to find one pretty cheap.
I paid around $130. for mine in the PRO, it's
a 12GB but of course the PRO will only format
8GB.
Still Enjoying the 9000 PRO

I just bought a NEW 40Gb IBM Travelstar hard drive for my notebook. It was $150 including tax/sh. It really isn't an issue as, on my 9000, loading time from memory and the HD is virtually instantaneous, either way.
