SPRING FLING, Changed to Santa Barbara Jam Session.
How about another JAM SESSION in Santa Barbara, California?
It has been two years since I put together the last one so maybe it is time to do it again.
Eric B has generously offered to put on the Jam on his home turf this year in the Santa Barbara area, a great place on the beach. Thank you Eric.
It doesn't matter much what keyboard you would bring as long as you can play it. We had a pretty good cross section of keyboards at the last JAM and we had a lot of fun.
Hotels and Meals are not included. Only the clubhouse and snacks.
Let Eric B. know if you have any interest and should enough people want to do this in the next month or two or even three, then He will begin to put it together.
Let us know by posting here,in the synthzone forums if you are interested. Once we determine if enough people are interested we will decide about going forward with it. Eric will then find out available dates. Let us know what your preferred dates might be, if you have any.

Eric,
that would be great for me. I am not really up to doing it again but I would for the benefit of the folks.
I could dig taking the motorhome down to your area for a few days and attending.
You need to post your area so people know where you are at. I'm thinking Santa Barbara but my memory is far from infallible these DAZE

Hi Bebop,

yes you are right it is the Santa Barbara area.
The people who live here on the top of my head are:
Paul Curzan
Nigel
George Kaye
Eric Bott
And some people from the LA area.

Let's see if there is any interest...

Eric

Eric,
You might want to post your kind offer also in the other forums where I posted this. IE. The Bar, Yamaha General Arranger forum, and the Technics Forum.
Maybe then if and when the net comes back to life we will see some posts in these four places.
Best to all

I am interested to attend for one session right here in SF Bay Area since it is so close to home.

Maybe some useful playing tips/arranger clinic would be great.

All the more reason to do Santa Barbara. That is only a 600 mile round trip for me so only 100 gallons of fuel at 3.29 yesterdays price, is only 329.00 plus a couple nights of free parking in Eric's driveway
Great Plan.
How about it everybody. ARE YOU IN! Let us hear from you.

Ok gang, I've admittedly not written a single posting in 2 weeks now, certainly a record for me , but needed some time away, having realized I (believe it not) now have over 7,312 postings here since I joined Synthzone way back in 1999, and probably earlier, as I believe earlier records were lost.

Bebop & Eric: Count me in as definitely very interested in attending, either/both in: San Jose or Santa Barbara, baring any scheduling conflicts of course. It'll be a lot of fun hanging out with longtime fellow SZ buddies again, & making new SZ friends as well. I also look forward to sharing/exchanging arranger kb experiences, hearing others play, and myself, put on an arranger keyboard performance to showcase my music, and how I do it on Tyros2.

Hope this thread stirs serious SZ membership interest in a 2nd California Synthzone member gathering.

Scott

ERIC..... How much free parking is available in your driveway??? My Motorhome is a 32' DP.....

I am in the extreme S.E. corner of NM.... It is 700 miles to Yuma AZ. Don't know the mileage to SB.

When you have the jam will make a difference for me.....

It sounds like fun if it's in the Ventura Santa Barbara area. Depending on the dates I could combine a family trip to make it happen.

It would be interesting to see what others are doing with their keyboards. Playing time will probably be limited if there's a good turn out but I'm sure it would be a learing experience.

Have a nice day!

Hi Elizabeth,

since I own a Townhouse, there is really no driveway; however there is plenty of parking in the street and it is very save.
There are often Motorhomes parked from our neighbors.
I live about 1 mile from the beach and we have a nice beachpark where you could stay too.
Santa Barbara is about 30 miles north of Ventura and LA is about 70 miles south of Ventura.
Both Neigel and I live in Ventura.
A friend and guitar player of mine lives up the road and they have a club house.
About a third of the size of where Bob lives, but it could work, plus we could cool of in the pool that's right next to it.

I'll ask him if it would be possible....

Eric

ERIC,
Parking in the street doesn't work for me because I have super slide outs on both sides of the motorhome and when parked it is 141/2 feet wide. Are there any decent RV parks in your area that accomodate RV's like mine, only 35 feet long, plus the sports car I tow behind it makes it about 56 or so. Let me know at your convenience. Just give me general locations I can look them up in my Good Sam RV park book if I know what town to look under and find out everything there is to know.
I really appreciate you putting on the jam down in your area so I don't have to do it AGAIN
thanks,
Bebop

Hi Bebop,

yes we have several nice RV parks as stated in my above post.
One is just about a mile away from my house right by the beach and is pretty nice.
Then there are several along PCH1 towards Santa Barbara in close proximety.
I'm sure we can find something for you.

Anyway; I just talked to my buddy and he is very excited about the jam.
He'll talk to the board as soon as we have some dates to make sure it's OK.
And of course with the club house comes a really nice pool, jacuzzi and a barbecue.
We can have all kinds of fun....

How does that sound so far?
I have the Mackie SRM450's that everybody can plug into, plus a Mackie mixer.

Of course I have a Tyros2 for those who want to play that.
Just bring yourself, a spouse or friend a KB of your choice and a bathing suit.

While we are jaming the girls can hang out at the pool and still hear everything, or if you're a girl it might be the other way around...

OK foks what do you say?
Who is in?

Eric

HI ERIC,
This sounds just great. I am in as near as I can say without a date. Jann has today off and every other Friday so it is hits on her three day weekend she is in too. Rocky dawg sez he'll be there to visit your dog and Nigel's dog
You need then to start a new topic and we need to end this one as the jam won't be in San Jose this year.
Best to you and yours and thank you for undertaking this task. You are appreciated.

Has this been cancelled or just dropped for lack of interest. I don't seem to have seen any posts for the last month.
Has the spring fling turned into a summer bummer?
It takes a lot of Pr and effort to get this project off the ground and running. What is the latest word if any? Have I been missing posts?
OH Well

Hi Bebop,

you haven't missed anything yet.
I just called my friend to see if we get the clubhouse, if not we go to plan "B".

I should have an answer within a couple of days (hopefully...)

Anyways nothing wrong with a summer funner.
Music is always good no matter what the season might be.

A few members had e-mailed me and spring wasn't good for them anyways....

Sorry that it is going a little slow, but I just got my second wind and we'll make it happen either way.

I'll definately keep you all posted.

Eric
