Better get TRUE USB 2 speeds to load up that sampler....! Fed up of arrangers that take 4 or 5 MINUTES to load a measly 64MB.
If Ketron are massively expanding on their 'Live Drums' concept, with beat-sliced real audio loops, that 300MB of wave ROM will get chewed up REAL fast.
Beat sliced drums can be VERY authentic sounding, but offer MUCH less opportunity to edit. I think a better use of massive ROM is to have VERY detailed, multi-velocity drum samples (like BFD or DFH2) with ambience sampled in, and have real drummers play electric kits to play them for the style. This would offer MUCH greater opportunity to change beats, or sounds within a kit (can't do that with a beat-slice loop - the snare slice probably has some hi-hat on it, too) with normal, familiar editing tools.
I know that quite a few of you have messed with Acid, or Live, or even old school Recycle, and are probably aware of the time spent trying to find the perfect loop for a particular song. If you don't have it, editing the loop itself (or at least the closest you can find) to be PERFECT is quite a task! It's an awful lot easier to edit a MIDI file to change the beat......
Hopefully, the Ketron won't go completely looped.
Are full details going to come out at Musikmesse if the release date is so far off, or do we continue to get teaser statements?

No, we don't live in a perfect world, but that doesn't mean we should willingly participate in making it less perfect. The SmallGig site is in its infancy. It has the potential to be a valuable site. "Boring" to me is the ongoing, infantile verbal sniping perpetrated by the same few self-styled experts on everything. I suppose the degradation of this site is only in keeping with the general direction of the taste of the masses. Look at the popularity of the "reality" tv shows that prosper by exposing the weaknesses of participants, or the morbid infatuation of the media with such "news" as the life and death of the talentless, pitiful Anna Nicole Smith. There are very few prime-time TV shows that I would watch with my mother in the room without being embarrassed! My point is that the affront on intelligent communication is boring, not the exchange of ideas between polite contemporaries. I apologize for participating in the hijacking of this thread, as it is one of the most relevant to come along lately. However some are already finding faults with this new keyboard, even though it is many months away from being complete. And why would Scott want to return here when there was so much effort made to run him off? Scott, as with everyone, is not without fault. He lays his feelings out there for everyone to see and he is an easy target for bullies. He was SUCH a valuable contributor here. He would gladly spend as much time as needed to help anyone who asked. Over the past seven years or so I have made some very good friends here, including Donnie, Dave, Gary, Scott, Eddie, Fran, Russ, Tom, Boo, George, Frank, Dan--WAY too many to mention all. They know who they are, and I feel they will always be my friends. Because of them, I will continue to monitor this site but I fully expect to participate less and less until it changes direction again. I post this with real trepidation because I know it is as much contributing to the problem as helping with a solution. But if it makes someone stop and think before posting: "Is there a better way to say this, or is there a way to say this without being hurtful?", then maybe it's worthwhile. DonM

I joined because there may be a chance to help someone starting out. We all were there at on time.
