Tyros 2 has a lot more variety for modern dance music than most people think.

the sounds and the styles are perfect fit for sooo many modern dance techno songs.

I pretty much bought the T2 just for the dance stuff and I am MORE than content with it.

It all depends on how creative you can be as well...

Although the T2 will import aif and wav, it does not import any multi-sample format, so to import a techno kit, for instance, or a good set of minimoog samples, whatever, you have to do a LOT of work to make your own keymaps, programming, etc.. Korg will import keymaps from Akai disks, amongst others, so a lot of the work is already done for you. That's what I mean by a closed system. It only reads T2 keymaps, no others.......

Wait til you try to program a good, multi-velocity drum kit by laboriously importing each and every wav, and prepare the keymap and velocity splits...... Talk about tedious!

Akai is the de facto standard for hardware samplers, and as such, any pro sampler should be able to import this format.......

I have found that the reason why most Tyros 2 owners are not so fussed about its sampling strength is becuase the factory sound quality of the drum kits and other sounds are SO GOOD - end of story!

Yeah, right..... keep telling yourself that. Doesn't it burn you, though, to have paid for a feature that is, essentially, crippled?

No arguments about the sound quality of the internals, though. But there's always room for more......

Just keep asking Yamaha for Akai format reading..... Who knows? Enough of you ask, and Yamaha might add it (or get Chickensys to write a computer converter)....!

I think it could be much better with some real-time control knobs for the filters, for this type of music anyway.

As i saw,T2 need time and experience to import sounds and multipads...i have not its.
I want to play some dance-trance styles and sounds like ATB,Paul van Dyk etc;too..i want to play some Jean Michel Jarre,Vangelis Enigma styles.
WITH THE AMABILITY OF TWO MEMBERS OF SZ(BTW,THANKS A LOT TO YOU)I HAVE SOME GOOD J.M.Jarre and Vangelis styles in Yamaha format converted from Korg.On Korg format sounds very very close.I do not know if in Yamaha format sounds too...o better..hihi.

It pisses me off that the OTS section on the G70 is crippled (although a new OS might soon fix it), I'm livid that the reverb send on the B3 section of the G70 is pre-Leslie. There are always areas that a keyboard can be improved. But I'm not going to change it, because what it does do is perfect for me. For now......

But that doesn't mean I can't criticize it, and if you can't bring yourself to admit that an aspect of YOUR current favorite keyboard needs improvement, what does that say about your objectivity?
