I can't speak for the Korg, but the T2 has some really nice Dance styles and the quantity is very good as well. Combined with very good pads and synth voices, I think the you could cover quite a few songs in this genere.

Im a young guy, only 22, I LOVE dance music and play ALOT at parties for people my age and older, and i find the Tyros 2 unbeleivable.

The factory styles are PERFECT as well as the multi pads. u just gotta spend time getting your sounds pre registered in the memory banks.

I HIGHLY reccomend tyros 2 for modern dance, trance music.!!

I think trance and urban dance styles use a lot of sampling to get that 'fresh' quality, and having a large selection of contemporary drum sounds and loops is what makes that style kick.....

The T2's sampler is very basic, and there is little aftermarket support for it's closed format, whereas the PA1X reads Akai format, giving you access to a vast supply of cutting edge sounds and beats.......

But, what do we know?! Go and try both extensively, and make up your own mind. Just remember, unless you fall in love with the built-in techno sounds, you are going to sooner or later need to put new sounds into it.......

Tyros2 dance styles are the best.

Tyros2 supports both WAV and AIF formats.

I'll have a dig around for a PA1X or Triton one as well while I'm at it.

I'm back - could only find three Pa1X videos on 'youtube', none of them was a dance video though. Still, if you dig around in Korg's own site, you should find something useful there.

I actually don't agree with most of the comments here. As a T2 owner, I think the styles are good, but they are not supported by good multi-pads which would be a must for good trance-dance.

Put it this way, the demo that was posted above from YouTube, is pretty much representative of what the T2 can do. If you're happy with that, then the T2 is for you.

Ironically, the old Yamaha PSR 8000, had much better dance and trance styles, and tonnes of good quality dance multi-pads! (I'm talking about the arrangements - obviously the T2 'sounds' are better). I used to do full dance sets using these styles, but with the Tyros, I don't have as many options.

I'm not sure why they didn't upgrade these into the Tyros.

I have seen all the videos on youtube of that dude playing the dance music.

he uses the 'disco teens' beat which is not the best style for dance music.

Ibiza 2002 and techno party are easily the better ones, even 'Chart R&B' is another good one once u mute the guitar channels.

to get your music to sound its best is to mute drum channels and the bass line consistently throughout your playing in realtime.

the techline multipads are aweosme, and dance/trance multipads are not hard to make your own anyways...
