Hi

It depends on how senior the seniors are that you are referring to. But, I found it interesting for years that if you played Spanish Eyes or Somewhere My Love that you would find that one or both of these are their favorite songs.

I close every Nursing Home show with "I'll Fly Away". Everybody claps, taps and sings along.
It's the only song of this type I do for them, but they enjoy almost anything that meet these criteria:
1. They recognize and remember it.
2. It's upbeat!
3. YOU are enjoying it, so they do too.

No sad songs about broken hearts and dying.

I realize I didn't answer your question, but I'm not certain there is one favorite.
Here's a typical list that I use here in the South.

Blue Suede Shoes
Jambalaya
Hank Williams Medley
Elvis fast medley (Don't Be Cruel-Teddy Bear-All Shook up)
Johnny Be Good
Johnny Cash medley (Folsum Prison, I Walk The Line, Big River
Shake Rattle and Roll
Mustang Sally (Make the Act. Dir. lead the Ride, Sally, Ride part)
R&R Medley (Tutti Frutti, Long Tall Sally, Whole Lotta Shakin', Chantilly Lace, etc)
Tennessee Waltz, Welcome To My World, if a couple of slow ones seem appropriate.
If I'm working with my partner, Dean, we will do some fiddle songs such as Faded Love, Orange Blossom Special, Sally Goodin, Listen to the Mockingbird.
And around here we'll do a couple of Cajun songs like Diggi Liggi Lo, Big Mamou, Jole Blon.
I don't know what the Yankees play.

...and if they're rich, here's one for the relatives.

"I'll be glad when you're dead, you rascal, you".

chas

PS: this really is a song from the 20's or 30's.

I close every senior home gig with "You Are My Sunshine" with the same result. When you're leaving 10 minutes later and still hear some folks singing that song you know you've connected.

The "hands down" favorite I've found for the senior dance floor is "It Had To Be You".
