Calm down ...... it's not what you think.

I decided last night, during the wedding I played for Fran's daughter Candie, that I am going to make an all out commitment to this psr3k.

I know it's shortcomings, I know it's strengths, and I know that NO one is making what I really want anytime soon, so I'm biting the bullit and bedding down with this puppy for a while. ( Would that be a ONE dog night?? )

What does this mean? Well, for starters, I will customize it, add personal styles, registrations etc. All things I rarely do because I switch kbs so often.
I will also be in the active market for a backup for my studio. I want to trade this G1000 for another 3k - anyone ???? I like working on stuff after work, but I hate to unload the car.

I am in the process of organizing, measuring and storing the wires for ez access and quick(er) setup. As soon as I finish ..... I'll post the pics of my new bride for all to see.

Yesterday - I set up outside to play the wedding ceremony ( psr speakers alone ).

Then I came in and set the 3k on top of a grand piano and played the cocktail hr on it ( 3k speakers alone again )

I had the Bose all set to go in the ball room, so after coctails - I set the 3k on the stand - plugged into the Bose and did the dinner/dance portion of the show.

I was about 50/50 live vs DJ at this wedding, which is typical when the bride and groom are under 30, and the 3k sounded wonderful at it's task. My setup for the rest of this year ( at least ) will now be:

psr3k (sequences play internally)
sony vaio (for MP3s, mostly)
Bose PAS (2 woofers)

Simple, effective, portable, versatile, and sonically AMAZING.

Pics will be along shortly.

BTW - it all packs up behind the rear seat in my Windstar and leaves seating for SEVEN. That's worth alot to me !

Dave,

I thought for sure you would have married a Redhead, rather then a Silver Queen.

I'm pretty new here but I know if Uncle Dave has that much faith in the 3000 I finally did something right when I bought mine last week. But I can't bear to part with my psr 2k, they are selling so cheap I think I should keep it, for awhile anyway. I look forward to hearing of your exploits. What kind of case do you use for the keyboard and is it interchangeable.
Will you be posting some of your styles, I've already learned so much listening to your examples on your website.
Can I ask what harmonizer you used on Nightengale? Was it chordal mode or vocoder mode?

Still searching for my redhead, but the silver queen will serve as a diversion in the meantime!(Like 10cc said: I'm not in love, so just forget it)

The harmonizer on "Nightengale" is the Digitech VR, played in chordal mode from my right hand. Left hand played manual bass and the drums were from the 9kpro.

I really miss being able to use that chordal mode on the 3k. Yamaha doesn't allow the use of chordal mode from the right hand - only vocoder. Boo, Hiss, Sneer ......(C'mon - make it better !)

So, it's true I'm married to the 3k, but hey - I've been married before. Nothing is forever. Except maybe, Herpes.....

Uncle Dave, why don't you get a harem and marry the PA1xpro too, your children will be very happy if you make styles etc. for them too.

Uncle Dave, I'm sorry if you have addressed this question earlier, I did try to search the database .........

Why would you prefer the PSR3k to a Tyros?
