Hi Uncle Dave,

I'm considering buying a 3000 as well - just bc of its size. But before I do: Is there ANY difference in sound quality? Would there be any difficulties in using it for live performance?

Hi chony

I see you have a Tyros? So do I. There is a difference in sound.

I would suggest to try one out first, either locally or online where you have 30-45 days to try it out. Then you'll know if it is right for you.

Scott

Scott,
How can you describe the difference in sound between the Ty and the 3k?
I never had them side by side, but to my ear ... I think they sound the same.
'splain it to us please !!!!!

Scott.

Today I have a Tyros side by side with my 3000.
I think that voices are the same and 3000 sounds better than Tyros with original speakers .

Uncle Dave,

Appart from having on-board speakers (what about speakers that can be attached on board but will blend with the surface and not stand out?) what are some of the other qualities you are looking for in a keyboard (that no manufacturer has developed in one package) that will perfectly come close to suiting your needs? Please list most here in point form and explain further where needed. Again remember, this should be your one and only board!!

Thanks,

AJ

I am not UD but I will try to make his job easier.

It is basically a Yamaha PSR2000 (all the layouts the same but with the improved sounds of PSR3000/Tyros) AND with better keybed like the KORG PA80, CASIO WK3000 instead of the mushy keys of PSR2000. And an internal HD.

THAT I think will make the man a happy performer. Right UD ?

Yamaha removed the vocal harmonizer, mic settings dsp variation and talk button (big mistake). That reduced the flexability of the keyboard. Although they improved the feel of the keys, I assume the size of the keys are still an issue (smaller then the norm). Still not perfect.
The company I work for ordered in chinese food for us for lunch. That was nice. My fortune cookie said, "You have yearning for perfection". Since I can't purchase a PSR3K at this time, maybe I'll wait till they put the buttons back on, in the next update. Yamaha gives, then takes away, then gives back, then takes away.
