Hello everybody...

Who here loves movie music? I was wondering this becuase I have noticed that the people here barely talk about movie music and the movie industry and I am interested to see who loves movie music.

I LOVE movie music and, as many of you know, my dream is to composer a film score for a movie! Here is a list of the movie music that I love:

-The Last of the Mohicans: This movie had the most brilliant movie music. With full ochestra, the music in this movie is so inspirational. Even though I do not own the soundtrack, I LOVE the music in this movie - it is absolutely outstanding! Anyone familiary with Last of the Mohicans? If not, you should hear this movie music - it's awesome! Go to http://www.filmtracks.com and listen to some audio demos from this movie!

Here are some other soundtracks that are simply incredible:
-The Mummy Returns
-Crimson Tide
-Lord of the Rings
-Jurrasic Park
-The Truman Show
-Twister
-Dances with Wolves
-Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
-Apollo 13
-The Rock
-Speed
-Conspiracy Theory
-Star Wars: Episode 1
-The Saint

By the way, you can go to the WebQuad Network Forums at: http://www.webquad.com/forum There, you can talk about anything related to music, specifically movie music and soundtracks!

Looking forward to hearing your comments!
Ryan

Star Wars has some of the best music.

Jurrasic Park is excellent as well.

I love music of the movies and I do not see why it cannot be used for everything and not just the movies.

Ryan,
"On Golden Pond"
"Gettysburg"

I highly recommend an album released by Michael W Smith. He's a Christian artist who released an instrumental album called "Freedom". This album was his own movie score version of music he wanted to record. All songs are original. Written recorded mixed and mastered as such. It's great stuff. Brian

How can we forget:

"The sound of Music"
"Casablanca"
"Oklahoma"
"Sunflower"
"Any" score by Heny Mancini and John Williams.

These are all contemporary "Classics"

Thanks everybody for the replies!

There are so many movies out there and so many good sound tracks to listen to. Everyone here likes different types of movie music and it is interesting to see what film scores you all liked - so thanks for sharing that with me! After looking at the list of movie music you all like, I am definitely going to listen and look into the ones that I am not familiar with.

I also noticed that one of you mentioned the "Fifth Element" as one of your favorites. I totally forgot to mention that one in my previous post, but I love the music that was in the Fifth Element - it was so unique. Plus, they really did a good job at combining the directing with the music in Fifth Element, it all came together perfectly and the music kept the movie going.

Thanks B2 for that information, I will definitely look into that album that you suggested. Michael W. Smith is, of course, a talented musician, so I am looking forward to seeing what his album is like.

Thanks for sharing your favorite film scores with me! See you around everybody and looking forward to talking with you more,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Having produced and directed the very early music videos for Warner Bros. in my other life, almost everything I do musically is influenced by film. I think “Lawrence of Arabia” (Score by Maurice Jarre) is the film that got me hooked.
