DNJ,
Please tell me more about your new KB / Pa800.

I need to know much , not from the Korg forum , but from an owner that has one.

One thing , may lead to many , are the grills cloth or metal ?
Key feel , like PSR`s / Tyros & Motif / or other ?
PLaces in my area don`t like to sell AR/KB`s , they say "it`s bad for business" . I`m still tying to figure that one out.

Thanks , in advance
Jedi

Then Donny will get his arranger ADD, and get another one, rinse and repeat.

Just bookmark this topic, and come back in six months... (maybe three!)

Some people see 'what a wonderful thing, Donny gets enjoyment out of any arranger he's got' and others just see 'there he goes again. I guess NOTHING can make him happy'.

I tend towards the latter... After all, why trade an arranger you are happy with?

Hey maybe it's just me, but gushing over the fact that a nearly 3000.00 keyboard has a MP3 player simply strains ones credibility as an evaluator of new keyboard technology. I can buy a MP3 player at Walmart for 19.95 (and get a corn dog and a NASCAR update on the side).

I try not to knock it, but as a musician, I still have a hard time with the concept of standing in front of a crowd playing an MP3 recording. That would imply that the crowd just came to hear your singing and from what I've heard, that ain't much incentive for showing up.

In the first place, the PA800 is essentially a scaled down PA1x (with a scant few, largely negligible, updates). This board has been around in at least one of it's iterations for at least 3-4 years, so it's hardly a new board that's never been evaluated before. Before it's recent "emergence", it received hardly a blip on this board. Does that mean that it's value is strictly a function of which revered member suddenly "discovered" it and proclaimed it the latest, greatest?

If you're one of the ones who can't wait for Roland to roll out a new $4500.00 arranger keyboard because it MIGHT have a MP3 player, then I say, get out of the music business and go get a job at Circuit City or Best Buy.

Chas, I just checked..Circuit City and Best Buy aren't hiring..

Chas, you miss the point of the MP3 player on a keyboard...There are other reasons other than standing up there as a MP3 plays..We use MP3's for our breaks and also specialty numbers that people request..that are not possible to play...even if you played..

I also do jobs that are combination of "mock" DJ as well as playing "arranger mode"..Sequences, and honest "real" play...left hand bass, piano and drums...

Maybe not for everybody, but I want my keyboard able to do it all...especially if I pay $4,500...

you know, this is what gives me the shits with this forum, you ask a sensible and genuine question, and it gets hidden amongst all this other crap that goes on and you end up with no answer because the person you asked the question of is buried by crap from others...i mean for god's sake its just bloody keyboards we are talking about!!!!! there are people elsewhere who don't even have the electricity to run one!!!
I dont really think i am interested anymore...

Wow, this has really turned into a big pissing match. Is there a full moon out there or what? We are all legends in our own minds and that's about it. Some make more money and play out more often than others. Some just play for fun; maybe even play is a generous word for some people who read this board. Some sing, some moan. What's the difference?

I came to this board a few years ago after I bought my PSR2000. I've stayed because it has a chemistry no other BBS has. It's kind of like the teacher's lounge in my old school with all my buddies, pals and enemies. I enjoyed the friends as much as the non-friends because it was what it was.

So go and kick each other a little longer. Some will leave and others will join in. Me, I've been reinvigorated by some recent posts, my recording and the new S series info. Good that Donny got a PA800; good that Tim Coaster and Zuki got new S900s. These are all great arrangers and they bring joy to our lives. That's it; get over it.

Oh by the way, anyone want to buy my G70? it's the best arranger in the WORLD, ya know...

Fran and Donny:

As helpful as you guys can be which we highly appreciate at times, all other times you act like absolute children.

you add in smart ass or perky remarks where ever possible and you can never be beaten down in a conversation / argument cos you are stubborn and thrive for attention...

the second someone gives back to you what you constantly dish out everyday you go all defensive and innocent... it truly displays a pathetic attitude and lack of maturity and social skills towards other humans.

wake up to yourselves the world of keyboards and arrangers does NOT revolve around you and neither does the forum (although it unfortunately seems that way when your presence is active)...

Ditto! I said it the other night. There is far too much animosity on this board. It's obvious that there are some deep-rooted dislikes and history will continue to repeat itself on here until people decide to just get along.

The saddest part is that there is so much talent on here that there is room for everyone. Why people have to attack I don't understand. It's like a feeding frenzy. Once it starts, get out of the way.

What a way to start the weekend.
