Tony. Sorry, no. The Tyros TRS-MS01 Speaker System (2 satellites + sub) won't work on the PSR3000. They were specifically designed to work with the Tyros only. The TRS-MS01's satellites & sub don't utilize the standard 1/4" L/R audio outs of the keyboard, but special Tyros specific audio outputs instead. In addition the TRS-MS01's include specially designed mounting brackets designed to mount the speakers onto the Tyros only.

It has puzzled me for a while. What makes this speaker system unique to Tyros? What is the difference comparing to a home stereo system?

The only difference are the connectors. They are not standard RCA or 1/4'' plugs, but a specific plug that prevents the system being used in other applications. Of course, you can find out how the wires connect inside the plug and make your own adaptor, so that it works with other (standard) sound sources.

Hi Tony,

The YST-MS50 speakers will work.
They are exactly the same as the Tyros speakers, except for the conections.

Good luck

Tony,

Do yourself a favor and check out the Logitech z2200 or z2300's. They sound awesome. you won't regret it. Just do a search on this forum for "logitech z2200" and you will see how highly recommended these powered speakers and sub woofer are. you can easily find them for under $150. I have had the z2200s for a few weeks now, and they are amazing with my PSR 3000.

I'm really surprised some ingenious individual has not created an adapter cable that enables the Tyros speakers to be used on any instrument and visa-versa.

The Logitech's are every bit (and probably better) sounding than the Tyros speakers. The only real ADVANTAGE of the Yamaha TRS MS01 for Tyros owners is that they were specifically designed for mounting (as well as swivel 360 degrees) on the Tyros keyboard itself.

I've found Yamaha's decision (with the Tyros) to go onboard speakerless to be a GOOD one as the TRS-M01's offer the sound quality (+ MORE) of the former 'top of the line' PSR9000 model without its bulk and weight: over 50 lbs . A lot easier to transport the 27 lb Tyro with the 16 lb TRS-MS01 satelite-subwoofer unit carried separately. Connection time: under 10 seconds.

Tony,

No, if you want pretty much the same performance as the z5500's, a much closer match would be the Logitech z680's which was the predecessor to the 5500's. They are currently on sale at Tiger Direct for $199. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=457919&sku=L23-6182

Check them out. I'd take these over the 5300's hands down.

Tony,

Having used both the Logitech Z-2200 and Z-5500 systems, I can honestly say the 5500's provide superior sound, greater depth, more coverage and for what you are using them for at the restaurant, the 5500 would be awesome. Keep in mind that with the 5500 system, you have a full 500 watts of RMS power, and when you consider the total number of speakers, including those on the keyboard itself, you have 8 speakers filling the entire room with sound. I have only used the 5500 for two Christmas parties, both of which had about 80 to 100 people in the room, and everyone raved about how great they sounded.

The Z-5300 does a great job as well, but does not have the same power and lacks a few other features found on the Z-5500 system.
