If you're trying to decide between the S-500 and PSR-1500 I'd take the 1500 hands down. Granted it's a little more expensive, but you get quite a bit more with the PSR-1500. One obvious plus for the 1500 when compared to the S-500 is poly. The 1500 has more than twice the poly of the S-500 along with many other advantages.

Afraid of what? Nobody knows how expensive it will be. If I were you I'd wait until the Frankfurt Music Messe at the and of March when more info on s700 and s900 will be available.

Bear in mind that PSR 1500 is a 3-year-old piece of hardware. It's like buying a 3 year- old computer. And there is half a year until the release of its successor.

The answer is : Yes.

How to do this is described in the manual which you can download from http://www.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/result.php?model=PSR-S500

Basically, you plug in your USB stick and select USER STYLE category. Then you'll be able to choose from the styles on the USB stick.

George

The Tyros 2 has a different sound set which requires higher polyphony because there are mega voices and super articulation voices. Even if you get to run Tyros styles on the PSR-S500 you most probably will not be pleased with how they sound.

I suppose that the PSR-S500 already has a few styles from the Tyros which has already been optimized and use less polyphony.

You cannot expect wonders from an entry level keyboard. That's why they are entry level. If you like it you'll move to a mid level one and eventually to a top level keyboard.

My suggestion is to get the best keyboard you can with the money you have. You already know that there will be new keyboard announced next month.

So - the choice is yours.

Kind regards,
George
