I was lucky enough to see him live this past year (I was the closet person to him in the entire theater...very cool), and he was simply fantastic.

He simply is MUCH better live than recorded, and I look forward to seeing him again.

Joey was a child prodigy and I had the pleasure of performing on show with him when he was about 16 or 17 years old. I did the opening comedy warm-up with the accordion on the floor and between the acts that needed a stage changes. There was a big band on the bill and I can remember all the musicians falling over each other to get a peek at this kid while staying out of the view of the audience. He just blew everyone away. Within the past year I worked with and for the City Rhythm Orchestra who recorded a CD and DVD with Joey – "Vibrant Tones"- which is on the Down Beat charts. I was given a copy of the CD and DVD right after they recorded. IMHO, he is just on a different artistic and technical level. Fortunately for us in the Philadelphia, Pa. USA area, he performs here pretty frequently as Philly is where he was born and raised.

So, how was the concert? Also, did you notice if Joey had his Genesys Pro atop the B3? The last time he played here he had, I think, a Genesys Pro that he played a few licks on. Even someone of that stature is not averse to arranger keyboards.

Sorry I didn't get back earlier on this - I left on vacation for 11 days immediately after the concert.

Well, what can I say, he was fantastic. The concert was a sell-out, which means 400 people in this new concert hall which is specifically designed to provide a really up-close feel.

He played what seemed to me to be a regular beaten up B3 with no additional boards at all.
