I saw the image of new kn2600. I hoped a new kb, but it is not a new one: It is exactly a kn1600 but light grey, not black. Same bottons (nor one more!!!), same screen, same box, same size, exactly all equal one. So, it is a kn1600 but whith more sounds, more styles, more wat and usb. If it even had at least the grand piano voice from kn6500 or kn7000...!!!
But... it has a sd card!!!!, not floppy. It is a Pity next PSR2100 will not have it, perhaps 2200 or 2300

I like the design of it.. Plus I like the idea of the bass ports being on the side of the keyboard... I think that gives a good balance of sound because the bass isn't so up in your face. Anyone know how much this model will cost?

I have the kn7 and the sd card is great. It's almost like having a tiny removable hard drive. The cards were pricey 6 months ago when I first got my kn7 , but they seem to be dropping. One needs to shop around to get the best value for the cards.

I haven't read any specs on the new kn, but if it has some of the sd functions that the kn7 has, then it aught to be great.

well on the surface it appears to have quite a few of the functions that the kn7 has. Very impressive.
The best part is that it also appears to have the sd card functions of the kn7 including audio.

Without a side by side comparison list it's a bit hard to tell what the differences are, but on the whole it sounds like it's going to be a great alternative for for purchasers who can't justify paying the extra for the top of the line kn7.

Why would an SD card, without a disk drive, be a plus? My computer at home does not have an SD card, neither does anyone's computer at work have one. How would I xfer a style/midi file from my computer at work to my kn2600? Sound like the technology is ahead of practicality.
Is the KN2600 released? Cost in U.S. or Canadian funds?

I think floppy is the past, sd card is the future.
You know floppy is 1,4 Mb. A SD card may be equivalent to 50 or more floppys. Is the must: like a litle hard drive, but removable!!!
It is true: there are few computers with sd now, but wait a time...
What is incredible is that while a middle range arranger (KN2600) has SD, any yamaha has it, nor its high range arranger (Tyros).
Why?
Perhaps to sell us a Tyros with sd next year?.

Starkeeper, hook up a cheap little card reader to your computer. The transfer is neat, clean and fast. Slide that itee bitee SD card into your keyboard and away you go. A little slower way is to connect your keyboard to your computer via USB and your in business. If there is a will there is a way. If you are into ditigal cameras that is same route they take. Depending on the size of the SD card, hundreds of floppies can be stored on one card.

Another thought! When some of us guys get together everybody brings their own little SD card. I put mine in my wallet. One gal has a little case on a chain around her neck for her little chip. When our turn comes to do something on the keyboard we just slip in our own card and it's just like having your own board with all your own stuff. Fantastic to say the least. Talk about ease of sharing and learning. Great to be still alive with all this super high tech stuff. I think in a few years the floppy will be a museum piece with the hard drive taking it's place shortly after. Any body want to place a bet on which brand of board will be the last to catch up? I place mine on Roland. How about you?
