You can get a refurbished Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox from their Ebay store for $59. or less.
It originally sold for more than $300.
I used one for several years before updating to the Jukebox 3. If you are looking for an inexpensive digital stereo recorder/player, the Jukebox is wonderful. http://stores.ebay.com/Creative-Labs-Factory-Store_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQdptZ0QQftidZ2QQpZ3QQtZkm

Wow Don. That looks like a good deal. Too bad I just bought a Dell DJ20 Digital Jukebox which I really like. Thanks for the post anyway. Rice

Wish I could! Mondays are just about impossible for me. I may just have to schedule a vacation so I can finally get to see your act. Thanks for the invitation.

Hi Rice,

I have not tried it direct. Depending on the software involved, I see no reason why it is not feasible. So far, I record from the Boss Digital unit to the PC so I can edit using WavePad. Then I transfer the saved music from the PC to the Dell DJ20. Hope this helps. RICE

Rice, thanks, once you find out for sure, I'd appreciate you let me know. Creative that Don mentioned sounds good, but a little too big, thanks again.

SOP,
The Jukebox 3 is a little smaller than the original. I record directly from the mixer, or my keyboard, almost every night. It sets on the SD1, right at my fingertips.

Don,
Thanks, can you adjust the recording volume as well? I think you're right, It's a bargain, plus it maybe the only thing that can do direct recording from mixer without too much trouble.

Yes, you can adjust the line-in recording volume. The JB3 lets you choose between various WAV and MP3 formats. The original JB records only in WAV. Also, the battery is much improved in the JB3.

The USB female interface on the Dell DJ20 does not match the USB male connector on my Boss BR-864. Have you looked at or talked to any of the guys/gals on the Dell DJ forums? Surely there is a gizmo that would allow the two units to shake hands without frying anything. Proceed with caution. Sorry I couldn't help.

Don,
Thanks for the useful info as always. I live in Dallas, TX, one of these days, I hope to pass by and catch your gig.

Rice,
I have not talked to anybody at Dell, does the thing has the regular input instead of the USB, that's what I'm looking for to record through line in from the Mixer. From what I can find, only the old Creative JB that Don's mentioned some IRiver, and some Sansung model has the line in input. I like the size and look of Dell though.

The iRiver - iFP-899 has 1Gb flash memory (about 300 MP3s max) This model also includer a radio tuner and dictaphone but the best part is that it will record direct from your mixer or old tape/record deck

Tye:

The DJ20 has a "docking" USB orifice instead of a standard USB. I do not have a cradle for this unit. Maybe the cradle has a USB cord attached that has a standard male USB connector. If so, that might allow the setup you are looking for. My advice is to ask the Dell guys. Good luck.

Hi Don
Can you just confirm to me that I would be able to play and sing AND RECORD the music and the vocal using the creative jukebox connected to my PSR9000?

No promises but I will do my best to gather up the rest of the "Shoestringers" including our wives and catch your act sometime in July. By the way, your website looks more streamlined than before. Nice!

Yes, you can! Of course to record the vocals from the 9000, you have to use the mic input on the 9000. Everything comes out mixed, e.q.d and with the effects that you use on the 9000.
I sometimes record directly from the aux-outs on the keyboard, and sometimes from the tape outs from a mixer. Both yield excellent results. What goes in is what comes out.

Great! Remember, the original Jukebox and the Jukebox 3 are the ones that record. The Jukebox 2 does not record.
Creative Labs usually has refurbished on their ebay store. I have purchased three of them, one original and two of the JB 3s, and can't tell them from new.
