Congratulations on the new board! Could you post some decent MP3-demo's anywhere? All I heard from the S900 so far are the videos from Taipei which don't really tell me what the board sounds like (horrible quality, major mistake of Yamaha not to put demos online!!!)

If the feel is anything like the S500 which I played there not much difference at all vs the 3k...add a few SA voices/features and you'll have a S900.

The most important feature of a keybaord is its sound,i think S-900 is a very fantastic keybaord.

Tyros2, in addition to having more voices than Ty1 has an improved sound chip so even the Ty1 equivalent voices have a better (HiFi) quality. If the S900 has the new chip then presumably that would also help explain the apparent improvement in sound quality over the PSR3k.

Sunny please elaborate on what you mean by not clear and noisy on the 3k...I dont think I have ever heard anyone say that about the 3k.

Hi,
Before i purchased PSR-3000,i used to play PSR-740 as it sounds very impressive even at higher volume. The sounds are clean and melodious.I even played PSR-2000 and PSR-2100 and the sounds are just like PSR-3000 and i was impressed only with the styles,as they sounded better than previous keyboards such as 740,730 etc.My psr-3000 won't sound good at higher volume.
But after hearing the sounds of Tyros-2,i noticed lot of improvement in the sound quality as i heard same audio quality in S-500 and s-900.I think same chip is used in all the new keyboards Tyros2,s-900,s-500.The other useful features in s-900 is Registration bank up/down buttons, very useful for live playing and we can select voices/styles with the data entry dial without pressing buttons and dedicated buttons for harmony, touch, sustain and DSP.
I think S-900 is a great keyboard for those who are dreaming about Tyros2 and cannot afford buying it.

SUNNY

having the Registration up/down buttons is a massive advantage for quick on the fly method of switching between your reg banks! great feature!

i could only imagine the PSR (or any board) distorting our sounding un clear at higher volume levels would be possibly because the eq is too low.

i think your eq settings may need a touch of Gary Diamond and the board will really come alive!

New Chip?? I find no such information on Yamaha's website about the Tyros2 having a new sound chip. AFAIK the Tyros2 has the same processor as the original Tyros has. The Tyros2 has more WAV ROM than the Tyros and it has the Super Articulation Voices which are a step above in sound "realism" but as far as the Tyros2 having a new sound chip I find no evidence to back up your statement.

Best,
Mike

I would also like to hear any info regarding a new sound chip in Ty2.
