Can someone help me to assess the key feel on both keyboards ?

Are they identical ?

I dislike PSR1000 keyfeel very much. I am fine with every other keyboard on the market. Even the cheapest CASIO is better than PSR1000.

Thanks

they're the SAME. This may shock you, but coming from a long background as an acoustic piano player, I actually have grown to adjust to (and like) the PSR2000/1000 feel. Go figure.

Thanks for saying that, Scott! I thought it was just me!

Buy the cheapest Casio there is and MIDI it up to the PSR1000.
Wud look like you are playing two keyboards.
Repaint the Casio with a Roland logo.
Just a thought.
I prefer the Roland feel more than the Yamaha as well.

Starkeeper,

That may sound far-fetched, but I can't tell you how many times I've wondered that very same idea, only not with a Casio, but another "piano feel" keyboard (hopefully just as light-weight, and a lot cheaper!)

What a disappointment !!

PSR1000 is SO close to my acceptable criteria for a keyboard suitable for live use under $1500 range.

Starkeeper, thanks for the sugg. But with two keyboards, how can I easily press the fills, change settings ? I think that would be too much. Never use MIDI before so I'm not sure.

they need to start making rack versions of these arrangers... Imagine having a PSR-2000 Rack... Ketron had the X-4, so why won't Yamaha do the same thing.. I know a lot of people that would rather by the module or rack version of a keyboard. This way they can buy an external controller with much better action and still have the features of the arrangers.. You save space and money.. That would be awsome.. It would also keep prices down a bit too.

Lukitoh,
Don't forget the Yamaha PF1000 (that will definitely have the feel you want, graded hammer action), but it might be out of your price range.

Its going to be double the price your looking for, but you would be happy for years. It would be similar to a PSR2000 with upgraded piano samples.
