I recently went back to WMP to play my MP3's. What I want to do is to group the songs like this:
BALLAD_Fantasy.
BALLAD_The Greatest Love
SWING_Nice And Easy etc.
The problem I'm having is when I do this it will work on some somgs and will not work on others. When is doesn't work it reverts back to the original title.
I tried going into Explore and change to titles their but I'm having the same problem.
Would anyone know why this is happening?
If I'm not explaying this properly please let me know.
Thanks

Peter

Peter,

In order to do this you'll need to create Play Lists, instructions for which can be found in the help screen of WMP.

Good Luck,

Gary

Gary

I already have playlists, that's what want to eliminate. If I keep everything in the Media Library under All Music I won't have to have the playlists, this avoids using the mouse or finger pad. You just stay in that one window and scroll up or down. Makes things alot easier and quicker.
My friend does this but I can't get in touch with him now, he's away. I thought someone here would know why I'm having this problem.

Try right clicking at top of the screen, then click File, then Create Auto playlist, then explore the options there. I think that's what you are looking for.

Right click the mp3 file and select properties followed by the Summary tab, make sure the information shown is what you require as this is what WMP uses for the names.
Hope this helps

Peter,

If you just a have a bunch of songs you wish to scroll through, merely drag and drop them into a single play list, then open the play list. They'll all be there on the right side of the player and you can scroll to the one you wish to play and press enter. That's all there is to it.

Keep in mind, however, that Windows Media Player does not have the capabilities of Winamp. It does not have a graphics EQ and it's not nearly as versatile.

Cheers,

Gary

Gary, I have to correct you there, my friend. I have WMP 11 and not only does itr have a Graphic EQ, it has a speed control too ! I prefer WinAmp because of it's small size and th eability to stay put while I drag, click or select tunes from folders, but as a standalone player - WMP11 is quite versitile. If it was a little smaller and stayed up while I clicked other song titles, I would have used it long ago.

Abacus was right. If you want to change the name of an mp3 in WMP you have to go to Explore, find the file, go to properties>summary and change the name there.
Then in WMP you change the name there and it will stay.
Now this applies to Windows 2000 which is what I have in one of my laptops. In my other laptop I have WindowsXP and I didn't have to go to Explore to change the name.
WindowsXP allowed me to change the name in WMP and it worked. I don't know why because in both 2000 and XP I have the same version of WMP which is version 9.

Gary, it wasn't a matter of creating a list, which I've done, it was a matter of changing the name of the mp3.

Thanks for all the help.

Peter

Dave,

I have an older version, even though I just updated to Windows XP-PRO. Guess I'll have to download the latest and greatest from Microsoft.

Cheers,

Gary

Gary,
Look in the "view" tab for the graphic. I think it's in a sub catagory called "enhancements", maybe?
Something like that.

Dave,

Again, you've come to the rescue--that's where the EQ is on Version 9.0.

Thanks old friend,

Gary
