Hi guys.

I’ve downloaded the manual and I’ve been unable to find the answer or specifications I need to answer the following two questions, so I was wondering would one of you please lend a little help here ?.

Basically I’m doing a little research here based on something a member of this forums asked me. So question one goes like this….

With regards to loading wave files and assigning them to a Key Map. Can you assign up to 30 wave files to a single Element / Key Map ?.

And finally, I was wondering could someone please download the following 3 files and test them on the Tyros for me ?.
http://www.korgforums.com/support/misc/tyros-v1.wav http://www.korgforums.com/support/misc/tyros-v2.wav http://www.korgforums.com/support/misc/tyros-v3.wav

I need to know if all 3 play looped, and which one out of the 3 plays back seamlessly.

2 of them will have a very faint buzzing noise to them and only one will sound perfectly smooth.

Thanks a million.
James Tubbritt

I've just tried the 3 different WAV files.
I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly as it's all new to me but I've gone into the Wave import screen, clicked OK to create a new voice, pressed element 1 (there are only 1-8 that show on the screen) clicked on add WAV and pointed it to the T1 WAV imported the file but all I hear is a high pitched sort of beep, similar to the sound you used to hear on the TV when it was late at night and there were no more transmissions.
I've no idea what sort of sound I should be hearing, each of the 3 files are very small.
Nothing seems to loop though. The sound doesn't stop so maybe it is looping as it's continuous.

Hi Craig.

The length of each sound is only 0.004 of a second, so if your hearing it playing back as a continue sound, then the loop is working.

Yes, that’s a sine wave test signal and exactly what you should hear your Tyros producing here.

The file you loaded is the one I was hoping would be clean and noise free. So just to be sure, could you please load up the other two and see if you hear a slight buzzing noise to the test signal. It’s important that you do hear the noise at this point if you believe the first file was clean.

Kind Regards.
James.

The first WAV sounds the clearest, no.2 has a slight background noise and no.3 has a right buzzing to it, hope that helps.

Cheers mate.
That’s what I was hoping for.

Are you able to assign all 3 to Element 1 ?.

Regards.
James.

Thanks once again James for coming onto SZ and posting the WAV's to get an insight.
Please keep in touch either on here or via e-mail as I'm certain if you pursue your research, you'll find that there is a big market just waiting for it Cheers

Hi James,

Please add me to the growing list of Tyros2 owners interested in purchasing "Custom Voices" (TVN files) from you for Tyros2. I'm especially interested in a Tyros2 version of your impressive Steinway Piano sample collection in: Piano Assault

Thanks guys.
I think this might be worth investigating further.

Looking over the manual here, I can see a lot of common ground between the KORG world I’m used to and the Tyros 2 engine. The most important thing is that we now know the actual recordings of all the instruments I made and looped are compatible with the Tyros.

I think I will hire out a Tyros 2 at this point for a few days to do some proper testing.

Kind Regards.
James.

Well I'm grateful James for listening to me and Scott and are thinking of taking this project up.
It seems that Yamaha have decided to sit on their butts when it comes to doing any WAVS for the T2, so individuals like yourself with the talent to produce great sounds (especially those for the Korg on your site)
would be most welcome by all the T2 owners on this site and any of the others out there.
Fingers crossed this end

I'm also curious (and have never had a reply to this question before) as to how long does it take to load up the Tyros2 sample memory if it is maxed out to 1024MB?

Basically, how many seconds/MB?

And is it faster from internal HD than USB, and by how much?

Just as a reference, my Kurzweil 2500S loads from HD at about 1MB/sec........

Thanks.....

Buy a Tyros 2 and find out m8, it's not as slow as some think and the hard drive is quicker than USB1

The potential to load in high quality new samples in WAV format should be what most T2 owners have been dreaming of. They appear as normal TVN sounds, these can then be edited even further if you wish using the editing software. Mixing samples with the SA sounds all layered on top of each other, or imagine 3 different high quality Steinway WAVs for upper 1,2,3 all layered - beautiful, T2 heaven If any T2 owners are interested then please say so below

Hi guys.

Wow, it’s great to see such a positive response.
Hopefully I’ll have some good news very soon to share with you all.

As a test I’m going to convert a Female Voice from my Vocal Assault CD and post it online for you all to download. It will be a fully functional free sound for you to use and keep, not a demo.

In case your wondering what it will sound like, here’s a few random notes played solo.

Kind Regards.

Just heard the MP3 James and also having already heard your Vocal Assault CD it's all good stuff.
I'm glad you didn't think I was cheaky when I initially asked you about doing WAV's for the T2 and I appreciate the time you've spent and obvious thought about undertaking such a project. It's nice to see a company that considers a suggestion rather than saying NO or ignoring e-mails like so many others do.
Look forward to hearing any good news soon, take care

Got to confess, Craig (m8?), that your insulting answer to my question (asked in good faith) doesn't do you any justice.

If you were to ask a question about a G70 and I simply replied "Go buy one and find out" I think you would be entitled to think of me as an utter a**hole, but presumably you regard yourself differently...........

I purchased the Steinway piano sample from James when I owned a Pa1X. It was outstanding.

James, if you could ever do that for the Tyros 2, you would go down in history on the zone...........

So would anyone else with a Tyros2 please answer my question without getting their knickers in a twist..........

How fast does the Tyros2 load from HD and USB in approx. MB/sec?

I'd really like to know, that's all........ I use samplers extensively in the studio, but load time is a definitely important factor in it's live use.

Diki I neither think you as an a** or a m8, from your previous attacks at me I'd just rather ignore you from now on, same goes for Neilshs, Squeak, Fran and Wis

By the way to load in 10 samples totalling 25mb without timing it probably takes about 25-30 seconds max

I'm also very interested in custom WAV files. The vocal samples done for the Korg are fantastic. Please keep me posted as to any developments, it will make an incredible difference to the Tyros 2's rather bland vocal section.

Here's hoping it won't be too long!!

All the best
