Having been a satisfied EV SxA100 user, I'm now interested in checking out its new improved replacement(?) model, the EV SxA360:
http://64.213.162.194/Products/pages/11261/index.fcml

Here's what Electo- Voice says about it:

The Electro-Voice® SxA360 high-powered loudspeaker is a fully integrated audio system with carefully matched electronics and transducers. This product makes it easy to set up a high-quality sound system quickly with a minimum of cables and external electronics. It retains typical EV ruggedness, reliability and impeccable sound quality.

Key Features:

Two built-in power amplifiers, one for low frequencies and one for high frequencies. The amplifiers also contain electronic crossover circuitry and CD horn compensation optimized for the speaker components, as well as a limiter circuit that prevents either amplifier from clipping while preserving sonic quality.
The low-frequency power amplifier delivers 350 watts continuous average power.
The high-frequency power amplifier delivers 150 watts continuous average power.
The line input utilizes Neutrik® "combo" connectors, which will accept either ¼-inch or 3-pin XLR-type connectors.
The separate line output is a 3-pin XLR-type balanced, low-impedance output that can be used with long cable runs.
The SxA360 two-way system is perfect for use as powered floor monitors.

Here are differences (improvements) of the SxA360 over the SxA100 according to sources at Electro-Voice:

"it (SxA360) has better tone quality, smoother hi frequency response and bigger and rounder low frequencies. 5 dB more output, lots more power and in the same size enclosure, but the SxA360 is 7 pounds lighter".

"the noise floor issue (hiss) was addressed with the SxA100+ version when we lowered it by 8 dB, making it just about the quietest powered speaker on the market. The SxA360 reflects the noise floor of the "+" version."

"The only common element between the 2 cabinets is the enclosure itself. The SXA100+ uses a DH3 HF driver with a stamped basket 12" driver. The amplifier is 50 watts for the HF and 150 watts for the LF. The SXa 360 uses our DH2T HF driver and our DL12BFH LF driver with a substantially larger amplifier that supplies 150 watts to the HF and 350 watts to the LF."

I'm particularly interested in checking out the SxA360's because of its elimination of of the noise floor hiss problem evident on the SxA100, it's lighter weight, yet added amplifier power and new improved speaker drivers. The cabinet size and ergonomic shape remain the same as the SxA100 which I prefer over the competition: Mackie & JBL. The price of the SxA360 though, is substantially higher than the SxA100, but I believe, similarly street priced to the Mackie SRM450. Has anyone here had a chance to hear the EV SxA360's? Would really appreciate feedback. Thanks. - Scott

The main advantage is convenience , less equipment to have to drag around & hook up on the gig. Also, the 'built in' amp was specifically designed to be the 'idea match' for the speakers. - Scott

I think the sx100s are better speakers that handle higher power loads. The convienience of the sxa is what you need to measure. if set up time is not an issue - I'd prefer the sx NON powered speakers. The sx300's are my favorite in that series. LOADS more bass and punch.

Jerry, Thanks for pointing this out. I'm really perplexed and wonder why EV would omit on the SxA360, what I've found to be a very useful EQ setting feature on the SxA100.

I would have expected, especially because the SxA360 is considerably more expense, that it would have included a 3 band EQ (vs 2 band on the SxA100), rather than eliminating the EQ adjustment feature altogether. - Scott

The sx250s are HEAVY. They have a 15" speaker and are made of wood.
Also, the info about the monitor brackets on the sxa100s is incorrect. They are plastic, and simply insert into the housing with no screws or tools needed.
Where is this info coming from?
Please check your sources before reporting on specs.
