Hi DNJ, couldn't agree more. It's a pretty amazing keyboard,( mines the sd1 + , though I still haven't quite worked out what the difference is) A bit backward in some features, doesn't have usb, doesn't have a sexy colour screen, doesn't use memory cards. But it has some great realtime arranger functions,it has sampling, & I love the "Live Drums". They bring a style to life. Also ( hopefully I haven't misunderstood) I like the idea of being able to incorporate a drum audio loop ( Wav) into a style, all I have to do is try & work out how to do it. This function could open up all sorts of possibilities. Aging, maybe, but it's still a very interesting keyboard. best wishes Rikki Originally posted by Dnj: Why replace the aging SD-1? Its a Awesome arranger KB as is.

Hi DNJ, not having colored screens etc doesn't really bother me. Not being able to step edit the styles hopefully can be overcome with EMC Styleworks software. I have some favourite styles I hope to convert across to Ketron, if it doesn't work, I'll just midi up the laptop/OMB software for those particular styles..
As for the rest, I'll just keep rereading the manual till it eventually sinks in.( the skull must be getting thicker as the years go by haa haa. ) I've never seen so many dedicated buttons on a keyboard. Actually it's great, there's nothing worse than having one button and having to wade thru a heap of menu's to get to a function.
I had considered the midijay, but it appears to target the performer moreso than maybe a hobbyist like me? I don't really use midifiles much, I don't sing, so the extra arranger functions on the sd1 suited me, plus I've ended up with aftertouch, mod wheel etc which I wouldn't have had, had I used my digital piano as the controller for the midijay. It's an amazing little unit though. At least Ketron's had the brains to keep making modules unlike some others.
Thanks DNJ best wishes Rikki

brmoore It's been 4 days and I am still smiling over your posting above!! Very interesting indeed. AJ brmoore Hi: I don't really know what kind of trouble I will get into by jumping the gun on revealing the new item being released by Ketron. But I am so excited about this I can no longer keep it to myself. The people in Ancora really outdid themselves this time around, and have accomplished something equal to putting a man on the Moon. Anyone can produce a keyboard with 76 keys, or with 25 USB inputs, or a built in CD and TV. These advances pale before the new accomplishment being offered by Ketron. Are you ready ? I hope you are sitting down for this one. Believe it or Not Ketron has actually developed a Manual that you will be able to understand. Now if that doesn't take your breath away nothing will. The only drawback is that the cost will be slightly more than the Midjay. Happy New Year: Bruce
