Last week there were numuerous NEW G70 owners on the SZ......would love to hear how your progressing, thoughts, opinions, experiences so far ?

I'm not one of 'em but if they aren't here either posting complaints or praise I would assume they are doing quite well. People tend to be more outspoken when something is wrong then when something's right. So I am assuming everything is going well with all the new g70 owners.

oh believe me here on the SZ voices will be heard regarding the G70 Pro or Con for sure just you wait and see.....

I'm a new owner, and I do have a few questions:

1. is there a way to change the basic multisample waveforms that are used in the sounds? I see on the Denmark site there is a list of tones (way more than could possibly be used in the on-board ROM sounds), but I don't see in the manual a way to edit sounds to change the basic multisample to one of the other waveforms. The tone edit function doesn't appear to allow for this.

2. is there a way to edit NTA chords after they have been recorded? I would like the ability to be able to insert an extra chord change after the fact (as part of songwriting), but it appears that this capability does not exist. I've read all the posts on the (lack of) a chord sequencer (which is more than I'm seeking to do here), and one post mentioned something called "second track" that I can't find in the manual. But I do have an EM-2000 so I'm familiar with the chord sequencer and do miss it.

No, Roland's Tone editing capabilities are quite rudimentary, simple envelope and filter and LFO adjustments ONLY, and nowhere to store them except in the UPG itself (no Custom Tones, yet. But Richard's Session Manager software allows you to do this on a computer). Roland in the past always used the EXTREMELY well tweaked and EQ'd Sound Canvas derivatives for it's soundset, so they never in the past needed this, much. But now they have a grab-bag of different sounds from different sources (Fantom, Canvas, V-Drums, VK Organs), they still have quite a bit of work to do before you can call up ANY patch and not have to tweak it a bit to sit in the mix as easily as the G1000's did.



Second track was a VA-series feature. No longer in the G-series (must have fallen down the same rabbit hole as the Chord Sequencer!). Roland certainly seem to be going WAY out of their way to deny their arranger users ANY way to use the G-series in any way other than straightforward 'Play and record'. A HUGE step backwards as anyone will tell you that ever used these features...

What I would like to know is, where did Roland do their market research? Is there somewhere on this planet that ONLY has people that either didn't use the Chord sequencer, or tried it and didn't like it? Because EVERY single post I have ever seen from someone that actually used it laments it's loss...

I can't really give a fair comment at this time since my screen was damaged in transit. Some of it's functionality has been lost a direct result of that damage. Despite another phone call to UPS the first damage specialist has not called me back. Once I determine whether they'll pay for damage repair or not I'll then take it to the local Authorized Roland Repair Dealer. Putting in mildly, I Am Not a Happy Camper. Don't misunderstand it has nothing to do not liking the G70.

T....its unfortunate that the unit has a display problem....but hopefully & in a timely manor it can be resolved at a service center and then liking the G70 will be an understatement which will turn to love for many years to come!

Can you get married to your G70's in America yet, is it legal? I think you can just about get married to anything else over there lol

I really like my G70. Having owned a DisCover5 Orchestrator really helped me understand and work thru the OS quickly. I also had a VR760, so the organ section is second nature.

I'm getting used to the EQ and overall sound of the keyboard and the vocal harmonizer. Even though the mechanics are the same, there are little differences in access and adjustment.

Steve - I think there is a post somewhere here on the SZ about a person who had a dispute with UPS. When they balked at covering the damage, he simply said how he belonged to certain bulletin boards and would gladly post his story on each one. UPS quickly settled the claim.
