Hi All,
just wondering what Santa brought you for Xmas. Some of us probably got our presents a bit early ( going by all the new tyros 2's mentioned on the site).
Personally I ended up with a Ketron SD1 plus, which I naturally opened as soon as I got it ( even though it was a couple of weeks before xmas. I would have driven poor hubby nuts if he'd made me wait till xmas day to open it).
Apart from that, a couple of great new AUSSIE cd's, John Farnham redoing some of the classic 60's hits & Human Nature redoing some of the Motown classics ( they've done an amazing job).

So what did everyone else get???

best wishes

John Farnham is one of my favourite singers.

Hi Fran,
Human Nature, is an Aussie version of those 90's boy bands . Anyway, they've recorded all these wonderful old motown classics . I think it was the top selling album here for xmas.

I love the older style pop/rock music. I've got cd's of the hits of the 50's,60's 70's & 80's. Gave up collecting in the 90's. Couldn't find anything I really liked. First CD I've bothered with in about 10 years

Hi Terry,
didn't realize John Farnham was actually known overseas. He's amazing. Been a fan of his for nearly 40 years.

I got a new set of bass strings for my upright piano (it got a bit wet on the bottom from a hurricane!) and now the wound strings will be as bright as the solids.

Not as sexy as a Tyros2, but it'll last a lot longer (and the piano sample is to die for!!)............

Lets see, I got a new pool table, new gun, one of those really cool looking electric wood stoves that has a faux flame that looks real, Fostex MR-8B digital 8 track recorder, new electric razor, and a few other odds and ends.

I didn't get much....the stand out is cash and a gold bracelet from my mom. I did go on e-bay and bid on a 1:6 scale Maybach remote control car...and won it for cheap.....sweet!!

That's my present to myself. I am otherwise saving up for my Steiner Midi EVI. Anyone else knows what that is.... I'm having mine custom made to accept a wireless MIDI set up....can't wait until it is finished

I guess I must've been a GOOD BOY this year, cause in addition to the Tyros2, Santa brought me a new 5g Apple 60 GB iPod (black), of which includes VIDEO playback:

I've been (for some time now) utilizing an iPod (4G photo) for break music (utilizing custom playlists), displaying pics on a remote TV monitor, and on occasion, playing along (and singing) live to pre recorded custom WAV/MP3 backing tracks. I've auditioned other players, but (imho) nothing beats Apple's patented 'click wheel' feature for its lightening quick song/playlist access speed. With the new iPod video playback support, video can now be displayed on a remote TV monitor as well. In addition, if my keyboard should ever be out of commision, I'll still be able to pull off an impressive show, utilizing pre-recorded Tyros2 backing tracks saved, & played back on the iPod. Life for the one man band musician-entertainer just keeps getting better. - Scott

He just rerecorded a song written by very close friend of mine, Sean Higgins. It is called "Downhearted" and was originally recorded in the 80s by Australian Crawl. I keep in touch with Sean regularly and he told me about John's new rendition of the song and was very pleased to hear it sung by John Farnham.

I got the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Christmas Trilogy box set (3 CD's & a DVD - awesome!) and Paul Anka's "Rock Swings" album, which I think is the best concept album of 2005. My wife (blond, and her dimensions are private but you wouldn't believe me anyway) and I took a nice trip for Christmas and tried not to overspend. I am awaiting the new GEM PRP-800 digital piano to arrive in the US.

Another addition to my Christmas toys. My wife's step father just decided to turn over to me (full ownership) of a vintage 1940's Firestone 500 bicycle I'm going to spend the next few years fully restoring this baby It ain't gonna be cheap either!

Hi Nigel,
John does a great rendition of Downhearted, though I must admit I loved Australian Crawl's version. It's a really great song.

best wishes

Sean originally wrote "Downhearted" and sent it into a competition for a theme for a charity. Derryn Hinch was judging and passed over it. Then some years later when we were playing it around Melbourne bars in a band called "The Flatheads" David Briggs from LRB heard it and decided Australian Crawl should record it. The rest is just history. Guy McDonough, our singer went on to write and sing "Errol" for Australian Crawl.

After Guy's death in 1984 his brother Bill McDonough took us into the studio in EMI Sydney and recorded some old demo tracks we had done with him over the years. The album is called Lost & Found .
