Hi all...
After a few months with no portable keyboard in my posession, I realized how much I missed it. I was going to hold off until TY2 hits the market, but decided I couldn't wait, so I "borrowed" some funds from my own savings and went to Sam Ash last Friday and picked up a new 3000. Got a great price.

Since I previously owned a TYROS, I knew I would be taking a step down in quality, but then for half the price, what could one expect? Well, I am pleasantly surprised. I love the USB to host feature...goodbye floppies! I'm finding the 3000 to be a really good board...and it will do just fine in holding me over until the new TY2 comes around!

Vilo,

Sam Ash is selling them for $1500. I had found a lower price on the internet and showed it to the salesman. He beat that price and sold it to me for $1335.

Tim,

Would you be able to post the main difference between the tyros and the PSR3000. Because when I bought the Tyros, I tried, on the same rack, the
PSR 3000 and I liked the layered strings & Obo.
That sound seemed to be so natural and heavenly.

ViLO,

Yes it was Digital Foto. I printed out the ad from the website and took it along to Sam Ash, thinking "It's worth a try, but I bet they'll never go that low"...glad I was wrong!

By the way...what does "He's coming...get ready" mean?

Tim

Tony,

There's probably a more comprehensive comparison between the Tyros and the 3000 somewhere on this site, but here's some of my observations...

Compared to the Tyros, the PSR3000:
1) Is lighter
2) Contains fewer voices but still has most of the Tyros voices, including all MegaVoices
3) Makes use of 'USB to Host' and 'Smart Card' which are both superior to floppy disc found on the Tyros
4) Has built-in speakers
5) Has most of the Tyros styles and quite a number of new styles not in the Tyros
6) Has less memory
7) Lacks some of the punch and sparkle in the overall sound, but is still very good
8) Does not have the 'live' drum kits
9) Keybed is inferior to Tyros
10)Seems to be a great value - a lot of keyboard for the money.

By the way it's all in the lyrics of the song "get ready" from rare earth way back in the seventies.
