HI ALL,
I am playing the Roland E 80 and I fine there is no global setting for the split point, (which I can hardly believe), even though I can set it for my start up default file. But..........soon as I hit a different style change it goes back to the C4 default split point. Now I have been playing a lot of keyboards for a lot of years and I have the use of the F#3 instilled in my mind and fingers
So..............What work around is available for this problem.
Please post here so others can read it too.
Thanks in advance
Bebop

Hi Bill,

Have you check page 65 of the owners manual ?

I think you might find this is what your looking for.

I`m don`t have one yet , I`m still looking , but I have read the manual , and if I`m correct you can spilt the KB in many ways or just have the "lower" and "upper" where ever you want it.

If had actually had the E80 , I could be of more help.

But I`m sure there must be a way to get a spilt point anywhere you want , and then layer you voices.

Manual bass / lower 1 & 2 + upper 1 /2 /3 , if you can`t do that , then something is very strange.

Every arranger that I have played as well , gave you the option of a set spilt.

Please post if this helps , thanks.

Good luck , and take care.
Gary

Fran,
I have the split point saved in the upg but as soon as I hit one touch button 1, 2, 3, or 4 the split point reverts back to c4. How do I work around this.
thanks for your help,
Bebop

Does it have to be changed and saved in all 4 of the one touch settings?

Bebop try this.
Set your split point to G3. Then go menu, arranger setting, one touch, then press the KBD part button on the screen. This should hold the split when go between styles and using the one touch buttons. By doing this you shouldn't need to save the split points into each one touch button.

the problem is: the keyboard parts on/off don't change too. That mean: first time a layer, always a layer sound. Bad solution!
Dreamer is right IMO.

Bebop... The solution is to use the Session Manager software program available at roland-arranger.com.

You can copy a split point choice as a batch process to as many or as few (or, of course, all!) of your UPGs and OTSs as you want. Then the only split points you can't over-ride are the EASY SETTINGS presets.

But within the E80, you have to do each one by hand... FAR quicker to use Session Manager, plus it also adds several other new features to the E80 (Patch storage, for instance, along with Tone edits, EQ and MFX settings to drag and drop into UPGs.

Download it, you won't regret it...!

Welcome to my nightmare, Bebop!

But, for all it's problems, the SOUND and playability of the G70 make me unable to move to maybe more operationally friendly arrangers, that don't have that magic Roland SOUND...

It is a matter of a few minutes work to copy the favorite split point you like to every single style OTS and every UPG you have made (and avoid overwriting every OTS and UPG that you DON'T want changed, using the Session Manager software. You would SELL your E80 to avoid that tiny bit of work?

Diki,
It would be helpful if you would have included a link for the software you mentioned in your post. I have looked to download it before but couldn't find it. One time I did find it but Earthlink was so screwed up that night that I didn't even consider trying to download it. I didn't bookmark it either so I guess I will have to go hunting again.
However earthlink has been on and off since Sunday and when it is working it is very slow. They must have a few servers down. I will go visit their chat room next and build a fire under them.
Thanks for your advice.
Best to all,
Bebop

NO EDIT HERE BUT HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION FOR DIKI.
I looked into the session manager and everywhere I looked it was for G 70 and Might work on E 80. Is that still a maybe. I don't want to blow 50.00 USD for a maybe.
What is the latest word on that?
thanks,
Bebop

I'm not 100% sure it covers ALL the new E80 features, but Richard is prompt in his reply to questions... But Split Point is a G70/E80 common parameter, so I imagine that for this function, it should be fine (plus most others, really).

Secondly, it works 100% without purchase, just the batch process only will operate on a few files at a time, so you can test it out and see how well it works before purchase. Purchase merely allows you to work on unlimited number of UPGs and OTSs at a time (which I know is what you want, but you can at least try it first!)

It is available on the Session Manager Forum at Roland-arranger.com, here:
http://www.roland-arranger.com/smf/index.php?topic=14.0

Post on that forum Attn. Richard with any questions...
