Can you elaborate a little on why you like the EV 767n/d so much. I have one on the way to me.

Donny:
More EV767 elaboration: a big reason that I have stayed with the EV767 mic is because it has the 'hottest signal' in a "non-phantom powered" dynamic mic. I especially like to use it when plugging it directly into my KN5000's mic input as the "mic gain" (entertainer section) on the Kn5000 doesn't need to be turned up as much as when plugging other brand mics directly into the KN5000. This results in much cleaner sounding vocals. The EV767 mic seems to "enhance" the voice, giving it a rich velvety smooth sound. I also like it because I don't have a tendency to pop consonants very easily on it. As a road worthy (subject to being dropped/banged) performance mic it really delivers.

For a most accurate sounding (non-colored) studio recording mic, and a fantastic performance mic as well, I recommend the AKG C-3000B large diaphram condenser mic ($299 street price). It's the closest thing to the legendary AKG 414 Condenser mic ($800 street price). I use this for special occasion performances but not for daily gig use as it is not as rugged as the EV767. Anxious to hear your feedback and comments regarding the EV767 (after you get a chance to audition it).

Scott,

Thanks for the review on the E767n/d. I will definitly give my opinion afetr I put this baby thru it's paces in the next few weeks on stage vs the Shure SM58. So far it sounds like a winner.

Hello Donny,
I recommend Audix for a microphone. I have been using a AUDIX OM3 for about 10 months now. If you have not tried Audix...Then all I can say is............Try one ! Dan O.

Hi Dan,
good to see your back online. I will look into the Audix OM3 also. There are so many good Mics out there, I guess trying them on stage is the best way to find out whats best for me.

Hello Friends,

Well I did a small 1 hour Concert Show on Turkey day at and I got a chance to use My New EV767 n/d and I'll tell ya that I was super satisfied with it's performance for sure! The Gain is nothing less then Superb and the Resilliance was Electrifying just like Uncle Dave and Scott Yee said it would be. My voice sounded Super Crisp and I love the feel of the oblong ball against my lips vs the round ball of the Shure SM58 of which I'm so used to. Backing off a few inches singing produced a great response also. I wanna thank everyone for the help in choosing this Great piece of vocal equipment. Getting it at a Super Fantastic price of $119.00 on a closeout sale at www.fullcompass.com was nice also. I'm sure there are many other great Mics out there like the Sennheisure 855 and Audix OM3 but this time around I can say I'm happy with my choice.

L8tr,

Donny NJ

I make my living performing in nursing homes, retirement homes, and schools. My performances are up to 1 hour long. I do from 1 to 4 performances per day. I plug a Radioshack headset mic into my PSR 740. I like a headset because I can look any direction I want, and even fumble for buttons and always have the mic next to my mouth. I like the Radioshack headset because it comes with a very tiny watch battery mic preamp so the signal is very hot. The two headset mics I tried from Guitar Center weren't loud enough even with my keyboard mic knob turned up all the way - and I definitely don't want to mess with an outboard preamp. Also, for a nominal price, I get a three year warranty. I own two such mics, and every 6 months, I have to get one repaired. I'm glad it's free and hassle free. I would love to use a headset wireless mic, but since I like to minimize setup time, it is impractical.

B-bird,
Which specific model # from Radio Shack are you using? How much do they sell for? I'm guessing it's pretty inexpensive? Does it have a 1/4 phone plug on it? Sounds like it might be fun to fool around with at home (no need for mic boom, cables, etc.)

When I looked at the specs, that ended any interest I may have had. 100Hz - 12kHz
