I recently purchased the Ivory virtual grand piano from Synthogy.
I put together a quick recording using a Kawai MP4 has a controller.
I used Sonar’s Home Studio with Ivory (Steinway D sample) as a DXI plug-in.

What do you think of the Ivory virtual piano?

The piano sounds OK but I don't know if it's how you've recorded it or if it's the piano sample. It seems to be caked in too much reverb and there is a background noise like a low hum. I've checked my speaker settings and I don't have any effects on at this end.

Craig_UK,

I also think there is a lot of reverb (too much). I used the Steinway D sample with the default settings. I will try lowering the amount of reverb.

I think that it sounded very nice. I liked the piano sound and the tone.

Nice to hear that song to.

I enjoyed it very much.
I do admire good piano players.

Fran,
No, I did not re-do the song. That is the original recording. The more I listen to and play Ivory with the default settings, the more I like it.

Thanks for the comments.

Hi Jim,
I think it sounds great.
Are you happy with the software??
I had a quick look at the pc requirements, are you actually using a 7200rpm hard drive?? Miy laptop's got most of the requirements , but only 5400rpm hard drive, so may not work for me.
I've been looking for a good sampled piano.

best wishes
Rikki

Rikki,

Ivory is the best virtual piano software I have seen. It has three pianos. A 9 foot Steinway D, Yamaha C7 and a Bosendorfer Imperial Grand. There are many parameters that can be adjusted (stereo width, key noise, effects, sympathetic resonance, etc).
I have a 5400 RPM hard drive and it seems to work fine.

Jim
