sorry, this is sort of off topic. I wonder how everybody learns to play keyboard. Any good books to recommend or any places to study?

Tiger,

Actually, using Fake books is for experienced players who already know harmony and chording.

I highly recommend you take lessons from a teacher. This is by far the BEST, Efficient use of your time and efforts. If you embark on this journey alone, you will become overwhelmed and frustrated. A teacher will walk you through the journey and help you each step of the way.

I agree with Mike--go to www.psrtutorial.com and go through the lessons, step by step, just as Joe Waters has posted them, and you'll be amazed how quickly you'll progress. Lessons are a good idea as well, but in this part of the world, $30 an hour is bargain basement prices. Some go for $50 an hour. The tutorial is free.

Good Luck,

Gary

Thank you, guys. I think I will have to take a lesson. I am taking lessons online from a friend now (through webcam and talk). if it does not work out very good. I will have to find a local teacher.
