This isn't one of those "format the device using the keyboard and it works ok" scenarios is it - not that I personally know a thing about the 800!

Maybe this is related, then again maybe not.....
I'm not certain as to why, but on my Tyros 2, neither of my Cruzer SanDisks worked properly. The board recognizes them but not the data on them. All of my other thumb drives work fine with it. I also have a small FM radio transmitter that plugs into my cigarette lighter jack in the car. It reads MP3 and Wma files from a thumb drive and rebroadcasts them to my car radio ( yes..it's legal folks .. it's very low power - part 15 operation ). Although the "Cruzer" drives work in it, I notice that from time to time they freeze up in it. No such issues with any of my other T drives.

I don't have an abundance of technological knowledge in this area, but based on what I've read on the net to me it appears that the problem lies with the Smart Disk ( U3 ) software. The U3 drives themselves have two partitions, and you cannot manually remove the U3 software. I recently found out that there is a tool for Windows that can be downloaded which allows the user to remove the U3 software from the drive. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm guessing that should cure the problem.

Regards,

AJ

Could the 800 be objecting to some of the non-alpha characters that are valid for a PC file "long file name" like apostrophe's or even spaces (although I'd find that hard to believe)

I have talked to other performers who use 8g flash drives on the pa800 with no problems....

Its just a matter non compatibility with the brand I have ...I have since ordered the proper one.
